He seems like an ambitious boy. Having lost a year’s development to injury, it would be surprising if he lost another year’s (or more) top level improvement in the Championship. I reckon he wants out.
Southampton are very close to signing his replacement, again, ex-Chelsea.

I assume Chelsea have to match any offer made to Southampton by another club. That’s going to be a right pain for them this month as they look to correct their FFP for this current period.
I would imagine it’s a good time to go after Tino this summer.
1. Southampton are in the Championship and he might not be so happy about that.
2. We have European football to offer.
3. If we bid, I’d assume Chelsea would have first refusal. I doubt very much that they’d be interested seeing...
I think you’re right but that we’ll play a back 4 a hell of a lot more than we did last season. Seems to me that Potter has been testing a 4-3-2-1 in pre-season and will do on Saturday too. The fact that we have about 15 central midfielders and one less top level centre back supports this idea.
I think Potter is going for a back 4 this season.
Right backs (in order of preference) could be:
1. Lamptey
2. Veltman
3. Karbownik (he must have impressed recently for us to pull out of the Tino deal)
4. Alzate
That’s a prescriptive view.
In reality, I believe Veltman produced some MoM performances at RWB and scored a goal last season.
He’d played RB for Ajax a number of times.
I’d prefer to see him at CB too but he was a far far better wingback than Groß, Moder and arguably Burn.
No surprise with seeing Leeds go all in for Master Bate.
They tried to nick Roberts from us, they keep a close eye on other top club’s talent (as do we).
In other news, Chelsea fans are not happy about this: https://www.theprideoflondon.com/2021/07/21/chelsea-cannot-afford-livramento-away/amp/
