Imagine the meltdown when he goes to Palace instead, we don’t sign a striker and he scores against us

Yep….we need someone who’s going to contribute double figures………which is about the difference for us between finishing 10th and 15th or lower (all other things being equal)
I’ve only seen ‘mythical’ used in relation to a 20 goal a season striker……..which is fair enough as it’s extremely unlikely we’ll sign, or ever have one. Hardly any other teams have them either.
No and no.
We aren’t ever getting a 20 goal striker - unless we uncover some kind of Vardy-type once in a lifetime player. We need a couple that get 10-15 each, and far more from midfield.
You are contradicting yourself a little bit here I think. Whilst explaining how the recruitment team work, you don’t ‘think’ he is any better……..but have you performed the same excruciatingly detailed analysis of every minute he’s played that our recruitment and analysis team will have done ...
Not always………..in banking at least probationary periods don’t work at senior levels, and trying to get rid of someone who was a mis-hire can be a nightmare (with HR usually no help at all). In football, a well as not having probation, the hiring club are also bit fooked because of the contracts...
.........and they'll be equally slagged off if we don't sign him (by people who have no actual idea at all of the rationale behind the decision) :lolol::lolol:
I wonder how many of those constantly slagging off the recruitment team for the duds have had to build teams of people in their chosen occupations and got it right 100% of the time ? It simply doesn't happen. You can do all the research, tests and interviews in the World, and still might end up...
Connolly isn’t currently good enough, Andone may or may not have his head in the right place so is a gamble, Zeqiri is totally unproven and may or may not work out - so we’re currently mostly relying on one striker with flaky confidence and one prone to injury. If not Edouard, we need cover and...
Spot on. If we’re genuinely in for him (and even if we’re not) our analysts and recruitment team will have been watching him for YEARS, will have watched every minute he’s played and won’t be basing a decision on a couple of lacklustre performances when he likely knows he’s leaving. Is he...
