Getting 60% of a fee up front is actually quite impressive on our part if true. Most deals are paid over the course of many seasons and in the current climate I would have maybe expected a lower % as a lump sum up front.
Of course in the grand scheme of the footballing world they haven't been screwed over.
But they do pay the highest season ticket prices yet been left behind on the field. I imagine that's what the poster is alluding to
Not sure many are 'moaning' as it's no ones fault. There's no one to aim a moan at. It's a disappointment that a player played a whole season of league games and moved without many getting to watch if they didn't pay to go to friendlies/cup games where he was involved. For many, the season...
Apart from the bigger stadium and new one on the way, the world renowned manager, the higher league positions, the wage increase, Richarlison, Calvert Lewin, Pickford, Digne, James Rodriguez, Yerry Mina and the owner willing the splurge a fortune to progress the club in a short space of...
Indeed. This was from The Secret Footballer
"Here’s something that some of you will find obvious and some of you will find surprising: Ninety-five percent of all transfers in professional football happen through tapping up.
But what is tapping up?
Well, strictly speaking a buying club is...
Because he chose the other club who had a bid accepted.
I'm not sure what your point is..
We all remember Alex Pritchard. It happens. Player had an interest in joining us. We had bid accepted. Player agreed terms.....and then someone else came in and he chose them instead.
I agree. It's easy to forget that when he returned from loan there was no real certainty amongst many that he was just going to walk into the team. Whereas he knew where he stood at Leeds and had a brilliant season. The idea of guaranteed first team pl football would tempt anyone in that situation.
Thats fine. We view the whole scenario very differently.
I would be interested to know your view on why Leeds bid so many times. We know clubs talk to players/agents before making offers. A club bidding 3 times (if my memory is right) are, in my view, only going to do so where a player/agent...
And his agent saying he was disappointed not to move. I get people say "you can't trust agents" but I just can't understand why the agent would even hint at that if it wasnt true. He said it on the eve of white signing a deal.with us after all those rejected bids.
This isn't digging at your...
I.may have got it completely wrong but I believe it's around 15 times and English club has received 50+ for a player.
You have the big ones moving abroad like.ronaldo, bale, Di Maria, hazard, coutinho maybe Oscar at a Chelsea and then you have the inter-pl ones like sterling, maguire, van...
If you agree he would have gone if we accepted the deal then isn't that an agreement he would have liked to.have moved to Leeds?
I believe he would have liked to move.
You believe he would have moved if he had a choice.
I think we are arguing the same points here but using different terminology.
Sadly both can be true. Clubs go to players/agents way before bidding happens.
For an interesting read on it I'd recommend the book The Secret Footballer. Really interesting insight into how these deals really happen and the fact that the lovely clean ideal of 'club bids- bid is accepted- club...
Thats fine if we disagree. Its just my opinion that it was clear he wanted to go. The agent saying he was disappointed not to go and 3 bids from Leeds is ultimately what makes me believe that. I may be completely.wrong and thats fine. I don't know. It's just what I believe so no.trolling here...
People seem to think I've made a shocking statement.
I stated I felt it was obvious white wanted to go to leeds last season. I still feel that.
I didn't realise it would cause such a response.
I'm sure Aaron is a BLAST but I would probably place a whole team over his youth team mate if we are pitching those against each other as reasons to be at Brighton or Leeds.
