Im with you on both points in all reality.
Im just getting a sense that some people on here think that Ben White would further his ambitions by staying at Brighton rather than Arsenal. Now lets not get all deluded people!
we all get that. But this thread is turning into repetition of last year only with the shoe on the other foot.
Ben would be off in a shot if allowed to go to arsenal. Anyone denying that are as clueless as the Leeds through and through clan from last year.
Last year we had a load of Leeds fans convincing themselves that ben white wanted to stay at Leeds.
Oh how we mocked them.
This year we have a load of Brighton fans convincing themselves that ben white would turn down arsenal to stay at brighton.
I think I see this totally differently to quite a few on here.
He's broken into the National squad for a major tournament and from what I gather rather enjoyed the overall experience of mixing it with the best England has to offer who tend to reside at bigger clubs on bigger wages. He knows...
Right, Euros are over so time to get this deal done.
Push for £65m and I'd be happy with selling a player thats not even our best defender. We have plenty of player who can already slot into his position.
With that money we might be able to secure a decent striker for once. I'd take that
I really hope not!
I feel now is the time to cash in. We may not have as much 'equity' in him next season but we may have more. I'd prefer the cash now and reinvest especially as we have a more than adequate replacement waining in Veltman.
I don't look at the team sheet and hope...
I actually think brighton are pretty relaxed about losing Ben White. I’m not saying they are resigned to selling him but I believe they expect a pretty busy window in terms of offers and hope that one of them is good enough to make it a commercially sensible decision to cash in and reinvest...
I agree in part but my stance is cash in now. Its a 200% increase on last years quotes and we are in need of recruitment in other areas. CB is our strongest role within the squad and he wouldn't be much of a loss.
I guess my point is that you'd have to be pretty naive to think that step 3 wouldn't have happened if step 2 was completed.
We have no evidence that Ben was desperate to stay with Brighton, we also have little evidence that he was keen on a move to Leeds other than it appearing that he...
The truth is that in order for Ben White to have moved to Leeds last summer three things would have needed to happen.
1 Leeds needed to make an offer
2 Brighton would have needed to have accepted an offer
3 Ben White would have needed to have agreed terms with Leeds.
Only 1 of those events...
It never came down to a straight choice between Leeds and Brighton for Ben. Why? Because his club didn’t let it get to that stage.
Now in retrospect say we accepted £25m offer from Leeds last season. Does anyone think he would have refused to move?
Short memories on here.
Last summer three things were obvious. Ben had 2/3 years left on his contract. We had a value which was never met. We didn’t want to sell to a relegation rival.
Consensus on here was that we were in the driving seat and under no pressure to sell.
When bids were...
