Yes, it's a cop out. A deliberate tactic to filter out. I decided a while back not to really bother about events west of the Atlantic, south of the Mediterranean or east of the Caspian. Much less to fret over.

I doubt anyone will be crying for 4 years about a US election result. Mostly people will just shrug or roll their eyes if anything at all.
