There is a cluster of quite active thunder storms that are mid Channel at the moment, but seem to be sliding along the coast. Maybe grazing West Sussex. There is a larger and growing area over inland France which might come our way later.
That might be from a line of showers that developed just off the coast and moved inland about half an hour ago.
Or any one of these active cells to our South and West
Some showers pushing out from France towards the Sussex coast. Not sure how they'll fare over the Channel but some lucky people will see some rain later.
I don't see any lightning from those little showers running onto the coast near here, with the main interest further East, but that rumble I heard was reasonably close
That was very loud here too. There was perhaps a second or 2 between the flash and boom. When the lightning 'hit' our circuit box clicked in response, so I assume the local power grid took some of the energy and surged slightly. Everything is working fine though, including my home solar setup.
