Good stuff. And to vinyl on a LInn Sondek?

In the interests of fairness and accuracy. Correction. I'm wrong about Qobuz also offering MQA files. It appears they don't, so apologies on my part.

Thanks, I should have written that. Succinctness never was my strong point :lolol:

[Music] Music Streaming Services...Which one do you use?

Short of recording it in real time on something like a CD recorder and then ripping it, no. I believe the downloaded stuff to be played offline in any of the streaming services will only be able to be played back within the app, presumably all the while you have a subscription and not just...

That digital trends piece is a good introduction. However, this bit particularly gets my goat as I'm seeing it quite a lot.... .....The first unfold (“A” in the diagram below), which you can hear on any device that can run the MQA Core Decoder software (like an iPhone with the Tidal app)...

[Music] Music Streaming Services...Which one do you use?

Godlstone1976 here provided some interesting personal experiences of MQA on the hi res streaming thread. I'm particularly interested in his/her experiences because of the quality of gear she/he is listening on and the fact that she/he mentioned the barely audible difference between 16 and 24...

No, same flac files available via mobile on Deezer now too.

[Music] Music Streaming Services...Which one do you use?

Good news! Deezer have now permanently dropped their hifi tier subscription from £19.99 to £14.99 per month  To be clear, their hifi tier means 16 bit / 44.1khz flac files. Cd quality in other words. Not 24 bit and above, which is otherwise labelled as 'hi res' by streaming services...

[Music] Music Streaming Services...Which one do you use?

320kbps is the highest quality mp3 goes up to. I thought it went as low as 40 something, which is pretty terrible, but if they say 24kbps, then that's your lowest. Mp3 compresses sound to reduce the file size. This is called lossy. Uncompressed files are better in sound quailty and bigger in...

[Music] Music Streaming Services...Which one do you use?

Sorry, wandered off a bit on file quailty etc. But then for some sound quailty is a deciding factor in what streaming service they choose to go with.

[Music] Music Streaming Services...Which one do you use?

Yep, good point about taking the higher quality so you can usually down sample, whereas once ripped in the 16 bit you can't upscale it to 24 bit. However, my Cowon DAP, for example, only supports up to 16 bit files, so I'd be screwed if I ripped everything in 24 bit. Also, the 24 bit's I have...

[Music] Music Streaming Services...Which one do you use?

On all their albums on the HiFi subscription I assume. Starting at cd quality 16 bit / 44.1khz , going right the way up to MQA. If you've got the gear to fully unfold the MQA's then that's the best quality files you can get, in theory, and only Tidal offer that. Qobuz goes right up to 24bit /...

[Music] Music Streaming Services...Which one do you use?

There is no point to Amazon HD over something like that bugging device, as you say. In fact, can't really see much point going beyond 320 mp3 on any bluetooth or wireless speaker set up. Another reason why Spotify has proved so popular I expect. I know blue tooth standards have come on at quite...

I'd never heard of Audials, so just had a read up. Sounds quite interesting.

[Music] Music Streaming Services...Which one do you use?

Interesting that convenience, playlisting and music discovering over sound quailty is proving most popular so far. Hence Spotify and Youtube being very popular choices. I totally get that, and it seems to me to be the big strength and draw of streaming services over sitting down and listening...

[Music] Music Streaming Services...Which one do you use?

I get that, and is why I was a long time coming to fully join the party. I still play vinyl, cd's, cassettes and listen to FM radio. However, Qobuz in particular has a very nice layout with credit notes and good write ups akin to album liner notes or reviews, judging by the little play around...

[Music] Music Streaming Services...Which one do you use?

Having done a lot of review reading of the various music streaming services lately, and the various offers currently out there, I'm now giving Deezer Hifi a free trial. Very happy with it so far, but curiosity might get me to try another free trial of some of the other ones to compare and then...
