Update from Paul Barber on the North Stand is that he is interested in thinking about factors affecting the atmosphere.
It could be that an “area” in NWC and west end of NS would work better as a focal point for atmosphere (i.e. the area with more relaxed stewarding) than the current...
Agree about no real scope to increase capacity even with Safe Standing.
Safe Standing (1:1) in most of the North Stand - allowing a natural gathering together there of the real atmosphere makers - would be a brilliant thing. I wonder if it will ever happen...?
Good contribution. There is obviously a real challenge to have a decent atmosphere in a home crowd once established in the Premier League. MANY teams are a lot further down the road than us (e.g. Everton, Arsenal, Man City, etc etc) and are worse than us but we know we are on a downward slope...
How many would you say are in the "NSK" proper now? Is it quite a small group actually under the police box? Do you think it would work if you stayed where you are and others came into the area nearby but not actually under the box?
Thanks for this. The last hour or so on here has had some good contributions including people who sing in other parts of NS expressing willingness to join together in W/NW area.
I've got no idea how to progress it now.
I could e-mail Paul Barber. Key information is how many seats will be...
Not sure what the misunderstanding is. Yes, you're right, what would work best is if some of the more central and East side NS singers joined those already towards NWC/West side area (includes NSK group under police box).
Dear D179,
We are contacting a number of STHs in your area of the ground to see if you can help us with some small changes to your seat positions in order to accomodate other fans. There are several options of seats available for you to choose from including some very close to where you are...
WSU was a really good place to be in 2011/12. Felt like the place of choice for many old school Albion fans and enthusiasm for singing was excellent. When it is rocking then the volume is louder than I have ever heard Albion fans anywhere.
The obvious point about hearing us from NS is that...
The problem with the central area is that the other people in it have been there from 2011 and certainly won't want to move. So it is impossible to create a bigger group around where you are.
I think it is more possible further over in or towards the NW corner. I don't know how many seats are...
Agreed that is a problem. I know families where the 45+ crowd will pay for their offspring to STH in the NS.
Otherwise it is £14 per game including travel for U18 (£22 per month DD) or £19.50 per game for U21 (£30 per month DD).
I think I understand the question! Obviously for most people they are less inhibited after some sort of soothing medicament (my own pre-match warm up involves 500ml red wine on the train over and then a couple of pints of Harveys in WSU)...
Which block are you in at the moment? The best place to think about people being able to get together a bit better is towards the NW corner. This also has the advantage of linking best to WSU which has the most other potential.
I'm sure there are lots in the same position.
Maybe there might be some others, most possibly a bit younger, who would like to have more of a laugh in the NS - and create more atmosphere - than they are currently able to.
You will be waiting a very long time for a consistently good atmosphere in The Amex with lots of loud singing as the norm. It has become obvious that the people who want to sing consistently are now spread out in fixed locations with too many people inbetween them sitting on their hands 90% of...
Obviously agree with most of that. The demographic shift would be ideal and it will start to happen a bit as a new generation of late teenage Albion fans is starting to emerge.
I don't expect the club will ever do very much but I think they would be open to some relatively minor help with...
That fits with everybody saying they can't hear what is chanted by the group under the police box. What is needed is a larger group, in that area but not under the box, loud enough to be heard in N1G and N1H as well as in the West and East Stands (and collectively reaching South...)...
