Well. Speaking as someone who saw, and worshipped, Ward and Lawrenson in their prime I've simply got to say ....... yes, totally agree.
(I know we can't really compare across the eras and Ward and Lawrenson will always be 'greats' in my eyes, but this IS a whole new world - and Pascal is the king).
I remember for a while in the 60s/70s goalkeepers were often referred to as 'Custodians'. (Don't think it's used much now though). And I have to agree with you that 'goaltender' does grate a bit, probably as much as 'netminder'. (Even if we do understand what it means).
