Mrs May quick to spot that the result indicates that people " Just want to get on with Brexit " … talk about incisive ? Nothing to do with ongoing austerity and the squeeze on council resources then ?
Yes ! I'm Gaisford, just seen the confirmed result on the Council website. Quite a swing there to Labour.
Edit: In fact I think this is the very first time a Labour councillor has EVER been elected in Gaisford ward.
My ward has not declared yet but last time around there was a significant swing to Labour which almost gained the seat, the candidate said that this time around there was a very good response to speaking on the doorstep.
This is pretty much my view but yesterday, I voted Labour to elect a Labour town councillor and that alone. I'm hoping that the message does get through by the time we get to a GE or I will rethink my position.
We have been here before, he's not got much longer as a leader due to his age anyway. As for a " Competent Leader" remember that they all get tarred with the same brush although the hue varies between Marxist, terrorist sympathiser, liar, idiot etc etc. Whoever gets the nod next as Labour...
When I voted about 11am the candidates outside the polling station said it had been quite busy, not sure if that will be reflected nationally. All this talk of a swing to UKIP may not necessarily be true as in Worthing quite a few wards do not have a UKIP candidate, in fact, the Greens are up...
It could be very interesting in about 50 minutes time when the exit polls come out, already talk that the Tory vote has collapsed. Mind you, that can be good for them as when the next cuts in government central grants happens it won't be Tory run councils that will have to deal with it, it will...
This.. Councils have had their central funding cut year on year to the extent that they have to maximise whatever revenue streams they can and cut whatever services they can get away with and selling off or outsourcing the running of council ( Local Peoples ) assets. The councils take the flak...
Only problem being that they are not and will not be in government in order to negotiate. They can't affect the EU's negotiation strategy as that is finished and they can't negotiate us out of the EU as they have been elected to the wrong Parliament !
Just had a couple of Labour Party supporters knock on my door to remind me to vote, I have already though. No sign of Tories or Lib-Dems recently. Looks like my ward might change hands this time unless the Tories are wheeling them out of care homes to vote.
There is never and can never be an acceptable leader of The Labour Party, the right wing press and the people with all the influence will always find something to smear the incumbent leader and make him / her "Unelectable " All the while this deflects quite nicely away from the worst government...
So you have voted for a member of UKIP, really still a Single Issue party and we all know which issue, to represent you in local council meetings about local services and issues ? Do you think he will even turn up if elected ? UKIP don't have a great record when it comes to constructive debate...
