It is not how it works. If people believed enough in cause there would be a majority embracing veganism, not taking foreign holidays etc. You cannot force change and no government will want to upset voters.

Its a nice precedent. Next time a parent wants to take his or her kid out of school to fly abroad, they can hopefully legally challenge the decision to fine them

We need to fine parents really. You cant fine parents for taking kids out in term time to fly abroad and then allow kids to just walk out of school to protest.
