Clearly not for the highly intelligent kids like you. For those on the cusp of a pass/fail and extra hour here and there works wonders .... I've seen it with my own eyes.
Many many many teachers would also disagree with you.
Well bully for you. My step-daughter is preparing for her 4th attempt at GCSE Maths ..... something she absolutely needs to go to Uni in September. She needs every extra hour of tuition she can get. My eldest son is a borderline pass in English ..... which he needs to do the A Levels he wants to...
Somewhat depends upon the effect it has on the kids education though doesn't it. As an example my eldest son is doing his GCSEs this year ..... I would be down on him like a tonne of bricks if he skipped a day at school thus putting his exam pass at risk.
I support their cause 100% but walking...
We did and I suspect it's going to become a regular thing. I have two children at Patcham High and the first time the school tolerated it. This time I got a number of texts saying any pupils attending the protest would have an unauthorised absence registered against them. I suspect the schools...
Ok, maybe I should have worded it along the lines of 'haven't done nearly enough to combat climate change'. That said it is possible to move up the table doing nothing extra if other countries have gone backwards.
Which somewhat shows the charade it is. Climate change is apolitical and the Tories have done fvck all to deal with it while in government but equally nor did Labour while in government. One has to wonder how members of Momentum have got to these young minds. If they really knew what they were...
So you're agreeing with me there has already been a huge amount of investment !
No problem with the tax being progressive just as long as it's paid by all that do 'something' to damage the environment such as use plastic. Old enough to vote means you're old enough to pay for the damage you do...
Indeed ..... and exactly what I was trying to point out to our young 6th form friend. You can't just 'ban' petrol cars without a plan in place. That plan needs paying for .... but by whom ?
Oh Plooks, you really need to learn to read what is posted. Where did I say we shouldn't use electric cars ? I was pointing out that even these new 'clean' cars have an affect on the environment ..... battery disposal being one of them. And the journey length is still an issue mainly because...
Samsung S5. The trick is, like a PC, not to install loads of crap.
The shit Mrs W puts on her iPhone is daft .... and then she wonders why it runs slowly !!!!
Of course I can't but that wasn't really my point. The tech contains rare'ish mined materials and in our throwaway society it is wrong that we change our tech so often. That phone you have ..... when did you last change it ? Most people do it every two years because they want the latest...
I didn't say that now did I !
Yes, yes I do. 15000 kids marching on a Saturday would have been very newsworthy. But of course we both know 15000 wouldn't turn up on a Saturday.
That deep hatred of older people is never far from the surface is it ?
And STILL no acknowledgement that the...
And tere in lies the problem .... you keep blaming previous generations without making any acceptance it's ALL generations that need to change their habits. I mentioned it before and you avoided the issue but the worst recyclers in this city are ? ....... students ! Who replaces their tech the...
FFS - today wasn't a 'strike' ..... it was a bunk off. The kids didn't withdraw their labour. They just didn't bother turning up to school. And it was you that made the comparison to the miners ..... an issue you clearly know nothing about.
So let me get this right - you're supporting the kids bunking off school to protest about climate change but you're comparing this to miners who were striking in support of a fossil fuel ? Really Plooks, you're stupid.
