The Sussex FA rules which I cut and pasted make no mention of compulsion, as you can see - just that eligible clubs can apply. Look it up for yourself, and let me know where it says anybody has to enter...
Some counties apply this rule - Wiltshire, for instance, and Surrey too, you say. However Sussex County FA does not appear to include compulsory participation as part of its rules.
"Shall be open to" - i.e. eligible clubs can apply to take part if they wish. Sussex ain't Surrey - thank f***!
Hmmm ......... the U18s played on Monday, and the seniors play on Saturday. And with what, 50, 60? professionals on the books from U18s up to senior pros we can't put out a team on Wednesday?

It's the Sussex Senior Cup - as far as I know it's just become a convention that we play our youngsters, not our first teamers. So, what's stopping us giving a bit of game time to the likes of Schelotto, Burn and Sanchez? Surely we can rustle up a few more youngsters to make up a team...
WTF? Surely it's only convention that we play our U23s in this competition? We play some U18s in U23 matches, so we can do that, plus give run outs to one or two rarely used senior players, surely.
