Coming from a family of 6, I was the only one that ended up a swearer!
Perhaps learnt at the Goldstone Ground?
I'm fine that it's part of my nature. Helps vent steam. I love it when 5,000 at the Amex shout :wanker::wanker: at an away player when deserves it.
I'm younger, but still terrify the family and pets, with my impulsive roar when we score. Plus some choice words for scum like the Colombian cheats. My son's 15 now, so I don't feel too guilty about letting the swearing out. Imperfect parent.
Sweden and their incredible defence were highly regarded ...... until yesterday afternoon. We were told by the BBC and ITV that Colombia's team contained several world class players even without James .... those players did little, their shit-scared manager and team resorted to violence and...
A squad and manager written off as shite before the tournament by 2/3 of the nation, with our track record of 20 years of tournament disasters and some bad luck, ARE IN THE LAST 4 OF THE WORLD CUP AFTER SOME QUALITY PERFORMANCES.
WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE?
Even outside this WC, this country is not as miserable as many make out.
Choose to listen incessantly to the mood music and narrative of the media, only gives a warped view of the country and world.
By nature, they rarely talk about positive news.
There’s increasing work done by mental health...
We were far better than Colombia, classily coasting to a win until their late equaliser.
Agree that today we played better and it was that rarity when you could sit back to relax long before the end.
We bossed a violent, cheating Colombia for 80 minutes and the second half of ET. Amazing that we managed to keep our heads, to play football in the face of premeditated provocation and thuggery.
My answer is - that's always been the way, it's club tribalism. Post 1986 and 1990 WC's, opposing fans didn't applaud Beardsley, Lineker, Waddle and Barnes, wishing them a good club game. Normal club service was resumed.
Following England in tournaments is mutually exclusive, albeit it...
Before the WC on NSC, many predicted an early flop for England and slagged off Southgate. They were wrong.
In the past England crumbled against the likes of those opponents.
Plus the BBC narrative before the game was that Sweden don't concede goals, have the Indian Sign over England, blah...
A massive well done to Southgate, and his first 11.
They've given us 4 wins in a tournament, for first time in a generation or two.
Despite the dominance of the PL and club tribalism in England, this brilliant WC has rebalanced the picture.
Happy days
