That reminds me of someone whose cat found out it could switch her bedside lamp on by touching with a paw. It then woke her up, so when the cat got hungry in the night, it switched the light on.
They soon get turfed off, only to plonk themselves on our laps. The ginger one on the left is still timid but learning to trust us. They went from the same home to the rescue place, so needed to be rehomed together.
My cats get shouted at if they jump up on the worktops, and have, as much as cats learn anything, not to do it anymore. It is mutual understanding. I also have cleansing products to clean the worktop before food is prepared.
A friend does exactly that. It prevents them breeding which is a big help in reducing the number of ferals. We don't have a huge problem in Britain with feral cats.
Btw, I'm sure you realise that female cats don't have balls, but are also spayed.
Yes, when I wasn't well, my husband did the shopping and made the mistake of leaving the bag of cat biscuits out. Claws and teeth soon found their way into the bag.
1. Waste plastic - pollutes and kills wildlife.
Edit, a lot of feral cats could be dealt with by neutering, although in Britain we do have a native Wild Cat in Scotland. All of mine are neutered.
In the past 19 years, I’ve had seven cats (bringing 3 with me) and have 3 now. In all that time, there has been 1 dead robin, and two dead mice, between the whole lot of them. Magpies kill more small birds than cats.
I get birds in my garden because I have a beech hedge, and the birds love...
From that group - this post
a Fox was decapitated in my mother in law’s garden and whoever did it disabled the outside sensor and lights - that’s not foxes either.
Nor do they return the headless body and arrange the legs in position on the path in front of the door.
Rabbits taken out hutches but only take the ears?
Tosh. The police can't be bothered and just released a load of spiel.

One of the most threatened birds is the song thrush, caused by farmers removing hedgerows from their fields for more profit from crops.
Herring gulls (our own emblem) are an endangered species too, as their numbers are declining.
Both of mine have bells. I have seen the demise of a robin, despite my efforts to save it, I think it died of shock. Mice have definitely met their end at their behest.
Cats cannot be trained like dogs, which is why there is no legislation against cats like there is dogs.
Get rid of cats and you'll have a far worse problem with mice & rats.
This maniac is killing cats and then mutilating them. The police and psychologists fear he will go further and move...
