You'd think they'd know it inside-out wouldn't you. But listening to some of the co-commentators in particular, they only seem to have a vague knowledge of how its supposed to work. I was predicting that VAR would be a shambles, and we might still get some. But I have to say, so far its worked...

This is an important point. The referee cannot ASK for a review. He will make his decision as normal, and will only hear from the the VAR if in their opinion he's dropped a bollock.

The VAR worked perfectly there, stonewall pen that the ref really should have given straight away. It was right to pull that back for a review, and the correct decision was made. Still dunno why that didn't happen in the Argentina Iceland game. But when its correctly implemented it works well.
