[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

Hopefully this means we have made progress with Bernardo as the defender / defensive midfield utility recruit, and we let McNair's agent know.

[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

Maybe he doesn't want to move house either ? But to make a big thing about playing in the PL and then signing for a team that isn't is a bit like caving and compromising to a pushy recruitment agent [emoji38]ol:
  4. Blue Valkyrie

[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

If he really wants Premier League football and ends up at Middlesbrough then he is as weak as anyone who wants a job in central London, but is persuaded by a recruitment agent to apply for one in Watford [emoji38]ol:
  5. Blue Valkyrie

[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

With McNair's injury history, there was always a point where if the fee got too high, the club might as well get on the phone to Steve Sidwell.
  6. Blue Valkyrie

[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

Sends a message to Reading that we won't cave in on their £15 million valuation of Moore.

    Naylor still saying Yes.
  8. Blue Valkyrie

[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

Maybe. But we need 3-4 home growns of the potential 7 we bring in. If Baldock stays that becomes easier.
  9. Blue Valkyrie

[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

Ball is in our court it seems. Match the fee, or move on.

And we have other alternative targets...

http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/16296502.amp/?ref=twtrec&__twitter_impression=true We won't match the Middlesbrough bid for him.
  12. Blue Valkyrie

[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

I guess they want more upfront, and we want more as an add-on for a certain number of appearances.
  13. Blue Valkyrie

[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

Not that fussed if he goes elsewhere, the real thing he has going for him is that he is a HGP - and we need to recruit 4 of them if Baldock goes. Pretty vital that both new keepers are HGPs with that in mind.
  14. Blue Valkyrie

[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

He's an unlucky dude if he ends up in The Championship with Middlesbrough.

[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

Actually, Bjordal still qualifies as U21 by 5 weeks, so doesn't have to be named. However if in practical terms he becomes part of the squad, we could name just 24 over 21s ( meaning 1 less HGP, .... maybe ).
  16. Blue Valkyrie

[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

You are right, £7 million looks mad. I think teams know that we are desperate for home grown players, and are trying to rip us off for them. Moore - £15 million, McNair - £7 million, Button - £4 million. All ridiculous.
  17. Blue Valkyrie

[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

If we want to sign him, this chap is going to have the most stringent of bhafc medicals isn't he ? ???
  18. Blue Valkyrie

[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

Ben Roberts worked with Button every day in training at Charlton. We need to trust his judgement that the fee is worth it.

[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

Far too public for the albion - it seems so alien to our normal practice - like a convenient smoky screen.
