Do you think though that they might have to alter plans like the junction at the traffic lights (Shoreham Airport)? Okay not a major thing but there will be a raft of other alterations that probably only got passed narrowly last time. I don't think anybody wants to see all that land go to...
They can't just increase the number of houses just like that. We'd be back to months, maybe years of constant proposals, rejections and consequent delays. The only viable solution on my view is getting another store onboard.
But can you imagine half the queue from the top of Mill Hill to the airport lights? Wouldn't that be great (and easily done) To be honest if that was my commute every day I would have a 125cc scooter in my garage and get home in a third of the time.
This seems to me that the councillors are just playing hardball to squeeze a little bit extra out of Ikea before granting permission for the scheme. I will be amazed if this plan doesn't go through now as the objections seem so amateur. Better access to Lancing College - job done.
Rather than cross the A27 there (and to avoid the need of an underpass or bridge that probably won't get used) why not just upgrade the surface
of the cycle path that is the Downslink from the footbridge? Much safer surely than riding up to Bramber/Steyning via the Coombes road.
As somebody who does the journey along that stretch of the A27 at all times of the day every day I can say with some reliabilty that it takes around 7 minutes to get from the airport lights to Grinstead Lane roundabout in the peak period. The new layout 'should' alleviate even this delay and...
Traffic flow at the airport and at Lancing Manor/Grinstead Lane should improve but the problems will just move further along into the Lyons Farm intersection. This country isn't big enough for the amount of cars - we need reliable alternative transport
