I assume it goes without saying that none of the infrastructure has been altered in order to accommodate a huge influx of people. We're getting a new road lay out connecting the 7 massive new build estates which have popped over the last 5-10 years. Naturally all the houses have been built...

Good to see the IKEA to High Salvington trunk road getting another airing. I have no idea why you are all laughing a BG, because he's so close to being correct he just zigged when he should have zagged. The answer is obvious, as I'm sure he was getting to it:-

You could have asked 'where will all the traffic go when the entire road is closed for months?'.

Driving up the Shoreham flyover on the way to Mill Road on Friday, at peak rush hour. I was met by 3 lanes of stationary single occupancy cars, not traveling in the opposite direction.

Apropos of not a lot beyond the fact this is the last transport thread. I have something to share, it's the work of a bloody genius, concerning Arundel train station. I'll try and keep this concise:- Arundel train station is alone on the south side of the A27. Naturally just past the humpback...

Oh absolutely, my point is the options are there, they are, for a multitude of reasons fairly unpalatable, which is the bit I feel needs to change before the knee-jerk reaction of 'we need more roads' & 'i couldn't possibly cope without my car'.

But despite all the wailing and gnashing of teeth 'oh I can't possibly move without my car', we all know full well people could. If private use petrol was banned tomorrow everyone would still get to work on Monday, but most journeys would be an utter expensive ball-ache, switching between bus...

Yeah I blame Twitter. For reasons I don't understand my feed has gone from Albion, journos (either side of the pond), blokes attempting to get a Darwin Award, and bits and pieces about cycling. To now where everything other than blokes attempting to get a Darwin Award has been dwarfed by some...

Invest in trains, buses and infrastructure, have a proper joined up affordable safe public transport system that is better quicker and more reliable than 1 person in 1 car. It can be done with the money you want to spend on a new road, but it won't be done overnight, and sadly it won't be done...

Ha, funny you should say that. Yesterday I rode past the one being built in Littlehampton, behind Wick FC. The first 4 detached houses, completed, are identical and look exactly like a 4 year olds drawing of a house. Grand Designs they most definitely aren't.

The one thing this thread, the Valley Gardens thread, and any other transportation thread has in common, is selfish posts like yours:- 'How does this effect me in my car? Badly'. Therefore it's bad, the whole thing is bad unless we build more roads. The point I was making is:- How many...

A new development has been built in Angmering, surrounding Worthing Rugby Club. It's across the road from the Bramley Green, 1000+ houses, development that's approximately 10 years old. A few houses in Bramley Green had stickers etc protesting about the identical development across the road...

Assuming you are talking about yourself in the third person, just out of interest when you bought your house did you think:- - Oh it's lovely esp with that massive area of grassland right on our doorstep. or - Oh it's lovely but at some point something is going to get built there, I wonder what?

The road is shit because of the new housing developments in Littlehampton, Lyminster and Angmering. Just 3 or 4 years ago used to ride 10 mile TT on Tuesday lunchtimes, from The Body Shop to Centurion House and back, because the road was straight, flat and quiet. Even on a Tuesday lunchtime...

we won't have anyone here to build them anyway, so it's all a moot point.

But plenty of people do. Not everyone has to take 2 mile journeys by car, not everyone has to drive their children to school, not everyone has to start work at the same time, not everyone has to sit in traffic behind a bus for almost the entirety of their journey.

Don't discount rabid NIMBYism. It sounds like you guys are catching up with the further reaches of Best Sussex. Anyone who hasn't traveled from Bognor to Angmering in the last 5 years would be in for quite a surprise. 4 massive housing developments, no infrastructure.
