Spot on..... the obvious model is produce a stream of players, of which some make the grade with us (very few in all likelihood) and some are good but just not quite up to scratch for us and get sold on (only needs a couple of £3-5m players a year for the academy to be self-funding) and we save...
Not really......given as we often play 3CBs, we really need 5 in the squad. As to who ends up as first choice, that’s Potter’s decision and based on form and tactics and will change throughout the season. I can see a ‘first choice’ 3 of Webster, Dunk and White, with Burn being first choice cover...
All of that......plus, if White makes the first team and continues his progress, his value will double, triple or even more within a season or two. Would be madness to sell him at this point in his development the way things are going.
So we know Webster is your new scapegoat (Kayal replacement). White is max one season behind Webster in his development - they're both still prospects in PL terms.
Me too. On the basis he's starting to look like possibly the best academy prospect we've produced, I'd be staggered if the club let him go without doing so, even if it's only one season, he continues to tear it up and then get's his head turned by a top four team and we get a ridiculous offer...
Probably closer to the truth....if his season carries on as it is, he’ll be in the Webster price bracket at an absolute minimum by the end of the season, and double that a season later if he makes the step up.
Genuinely don’t think there is a hope in hell the club will sell him though. He’s...
Balogun is only backup and likely to be off at some point. I don’t think Potter sees Duffy as sufficiently good with his feet - he’ll go before Burn does in the Potter setup. Very much expect first choice CBs next season (assuming we’re not relegated) to be Webster, Dunk and White, with Burn as...
