I was on a case where the foreman had a bout of nerves and when the judge asked if we had reached a decision on which we all agreed said “yes”. A few seconds of silence then a few of us said “no we haven’t” because we hadn’t!
There was a retrial (not because of the foreman’s error).
Joking apart, if you are on the jury googling a case, defendant, etc is a criminal offence.
At Hove courts if someone wants a ciggy during deliberations you all have to go with them but you’re not allowed to use the canteen/cafe cos it’s used by relatives, friends of defendant, yet you can go...
