I agree. If no case is proven, the way forward would be to put it all behind him. Dragging it further not good for anyone even if he feels wronged.

No...not racially. There was anger that he went on TV and spoke publicly about it which could have prejudiced the case. If it's proven that Rodriguez didn't use racially motivated words, there could be case for slander.

I don't disagree with you. Just passing on what was reported up here around reason for extension. This is a huge thing for the player. Career defining moment. Not surprising that he is ensuring he us fully prepared to defend himself. We would all do the same would we not, if we felt wrongly...

On the contrary. He has employed a barrister to defend him. There is talk of counter law suits with regards slander.

You can't ban someone before they have been found guilty.

I guess the club asked for extra time to prepare given Rodriguez was out of the country this week so unable to meet with his representatives.

The hearing was due today but the club asked for an extension as the club have been in Barcelona this week on mid winter break.

Apologies, missed that reply I think. I haven't discounted that he said it. Just that the syntax of the alleged sentence is just weird and as a result i think unlikely.

Agree with all that. I have felt all along that Bong has misheard. Don't think he's lied. I think the worst that's actually happened is Rodriguez has acted like a child with his actions.

I haven't hung Rodriguez without a trial but that's nothing to do with team loyalty. I am going to wait and see what comes out of the hearing and if it's proven he said these words then he will get his comeuppance and deservedly so. If it was a Brighton player in these circumstances, would...

I have seen plenty on my own Twitter timeline and on the message board I moderate on that think Bong misheard. I agree about the abuse. However, Twitter is a sesspit at times and it's not representative of the vast majority of Albion fans.

Fair enough if you think that. I think it's a very strange sledge. It would normally have an adjective or noun alongside it.
