The company I used came up against the same problem. I am considering writing to the ombudsman but not sure of the ombudsman for what so if anybody has any suggestions or addresses I would be grateful.

There must be some way of proving it as in my case I KNOW I had a mortgage with them and I would think that it contained PPI. I have tried my bank but they said their records of my account and payments made does not go back that far and are destroyed after about 10 years.

What are the steps you are going to take where they have said they have no record of you holding an account. As per a previous post I had rthis with a mortgage which I definitely had with Brittania.

I claimed through a company because I didnt get any satisfaction doing it myself and my view was that they charged a % but without it I wouldnt gave got anything. Most companies said they couldnt find me having had an account with them. In fact this is the same answer from Brittania...
