I doubt very much that is the case. Krul has worked with Hughton before, so know each other well. I think the loan was because Newcastle were delaying letting him go. I have no proof, just a hunch. We are Premier League so need two top class keepers as a minimum.

I think that deal started on Jan 1st, which was why it was 2.5 years. He was still a loanee from Nov to Jan.

Because we are converting a one year loan to a one year contract. The transfer window is closed, so we can't draw up a new deal.

It's a one year loan converted to a one year deal. He's also available on a free next summer, so I fully expect him to be offered another contract. He and Chris have worked together before so know what to expect from each other.
