Yep, kept shouting over Shreeves and Bellamy, even when not his turn to answer. Bellamy coaches at Cardiff, Merson’s out the game, yet he was a paragon of virtue.
To give the full picture for 2018/19:
Club income (estimate) £140m
Less: operational & admin costs (£15m)
= £125m cash to cover payroll, new transfer fees & agents fees.
This assumes no cash inflow from player sales, or repayments to TB.
He won't be putting anything in. Agreed.
£140m income or more, less original cost base leaves the best part of £100m for PL wages and new transfers. I never said £100m will be spent solely on fees, but it will be invested in fees, agents fees and PL level wages.
But it will allow us to buy our second 'batch' of top flight quality players. Last season Palace, Bmuff and the rest had the huge advantage of having built PL squad over many windows. If they improve that again it will be in small increments, but PL quality players will have to leave their...
No, with the £9m (will never happen again) promotion costs, my figures were the audited results per Companies House.
Separately, to give an indication of our club income 2017/18 and 2018/19, here's Southampton's. Deduct say £30m for their greater broadcasting income/high PL finish prize money...
That was old Championship financial results:
Income £29m
Regular costs £56m
= Loss £27m
(Then less exceptional promotion costs of £9m).
PL club income is at least £135m.
This season we (with Hudd) had a huge disadvantage with a thin squad and some players that found the PL a struggle at times.
Next season that squad/quality disadvantage is narrowed.
Let's predict his predictions now:
1. Wolves to finish top half.
2. Hudd and Cardiff to go down, plus Derby or Boro to drop should either make it to the PL.
3. ManC to win the PL.
4. ManU second.
5. Sunderland to win League One.
Perhaps I missed some earlier comments by him? But the nice things he said, seemed to start when we got those key results in February. Not just for Brighton, but he seems to go with the obvious flow, minimising the risk of egg on his face,
He has strange debating skills. Sky Sports 1 had its...
Out of the bunch of maverick ex-players gathered every Saturday around the excellent Jeff Stelling, Merson is always the most negative, spiteful and the least cerebral by some margin.
If we're losing this coming season and it's his turn to watch our game, he will get on Albion fans nerves with...
