Why do we need to do that? What's wrong with about 11 billion people on the planet?

I thought we'd been doing that for decades.

Maybe this is an example of an area that that we need to look at regarding the laws of this country.

I gave your question the thumbs up and said it was a good question, as that's what I thought it meant. What did it mean then? But as I say, not all Christians are the same. Some still do believe the bible is the word of god.

 It was your question!: "How do Christians get around this problem?" I replied that it was a good question, and I rephrased your question. Because not everyone agrees that the Bible is inspired by God but written by man. You're the pot calling the kettle black, given that it was your...

I've no problem with that, but this is also a fair point:

I'm not trying to argue with you, just establish the facts. Some Christians still believe the Bible is the actual word of god. Most, I think, don't. That may have been true for Christians too at one point. Things change. Islam may need to change.

So you think banning flags is the answer then?
  9. Triggaaar

police dealing with incident on London bridge.,

I don't think that's correct. A little reading on the subject suggests that near the time of Christ it was believed that the Old Testament was the word of god, and the text in both Old and New claim "God said" or "Thus says the Lord" thousands of times. That is not what most Christians now...

It is a bit of a mess. Pretty much. I think that would be a mistake, and is almost what's happening now. I think that the many decent law abiding Muslims are turning a blind eye to the terrible words in their book. As I've said above, if the Quran does say as I think it does, that should be out...

So if I'm not sure you're first idea is the best way forward, then we have to give up? Come on GT, don't be a baby. I just don't think banning flags will solve our problems. I'd like more time spent analysing the Quran, and openly discussing whether Allah really is calling for non believers to...

Indeed, so we can't arrest them. But they will be waving their flag in support of ISIS, and based on the circumstances around their march/protest/whatever, everyone will know what their point is. So they'll carry on as now, and we won't be able to do anything.

It's not just those who are angry, people that are targeted for radicalisation are often lonely or feel out of touch with our society, so groups can make them feel like they belong etc. I'm sure there are many factors. Some may be identified and radicalised, others may go looking for the cause...

You obviously know I'm not saying that. They can monitor people they are suspicious of, but we don't have the manpower to constantly monitor every individual that's been reported or seen with a flag. If your argument is that we need to massively up the budget so that we can do so, fine, but I...

Which means those supporting ISIS would just start using the standard flag. Or they'd change it a little bit, but it wouldn't be an ISIS flag, so we can't stop them.

police dealing with incident on London bridge.,

You're criticising the security services for not stopping him (which means locking him up), on the basis that he was seen with an ISIS flag. By all means be critical of our security if they've done something wrong, but what exactly are you suggesting they do? What is more? Which law is it they...

That's really difficult to put people in prison for. Say it's just a standard Muslim flag? It could just be a flag with Islam written on it. We can't just go locking up people for having a flag that may or not be supporting ISIS.

police dealing with incident on London bridge.,

You've misunderstood. My post was a reply to Springal, who is angry that the security services didn't do anything about the man with an ISIS flag, and my point is what we (our security services) could do about those who have had ISIS flags in the past. Changing the law now wouldn't mean we could...

Well that's what an atheist would say, but Muslims disagree. They don't even believe in evolution.

All humans start the same. The problem is that young men are often a bit angry and aggressive and think things in the world are against them. If such a young man is told of the horrors the west are doing to that man's homeland (and thanks to the drone attacks and the like, it's not like they...
