I shouldn't really post this as it was told to me in confidence, but I've been drinking, so
Half season 1 - Promotion
Season 2 - Consolidate in the PL
Season 3 - Qualify for Europe
Season 4 - Qualify for CL
Season 5 - Win PL and get to CL final
Season 6 - Invade Russia
Maybe, that would just be a year behind the original.
I remember the original along the lines of us arriving at the new ground and the journalists asking Tony about plans and ambition, and Tony saying that the PL was the aim within 5 years.
I'm loving the season, just trying to prepare NSC for when we lose a game. It's a very small point lead and I can easily see a meltdown if we lose a couple. We should expect to lose some and be calm when we do, and ready to carry on (cheering the team on etc, without wetting the bed).
Stand back, pedant incoming...
Well they're not right are they, it's not done :) Even if we were to be promoted, they still wouldn't have been right.
A falshy new signing would be nice to take my mind off it all.
I wasn't suggesting history will repeat itself, it was simply a cautionary tale highlighting how far there is to go.
True, but the same - no, worse happened to Derby. We gained 15 points on Derby and Burnley gained 21 points on them over the last 21 games.
That's just crazy talk, these things...
Say Middlesbrough won their game in hand, that would have put them 13 points ahead of Burnley, yet Burnley finished 4 points ahead of 'brough.
It's not only losses that lose you points. And looking at the stats for the first half of last season, you wouldn't have expected Middlesbrough to be...
We were in form, but Bolasie and Zaha are good players and had a good day, while luck wasn't with us. I don't think hitting the post and having one cleared off the line was because of bottle.
Why would you even listen to that shit when it's clearly not true? We got 32 points from the last 14 games - that's not even close to bottling it. We lost in the playoffs because we got 4 injuries in an hour, and the ref gave Shefwedlol a goal that even they said shouldn't have been allowed...
Just as a reminder of how far there is to go, this is what the table looked like at this point last year. Middlesbrough had a game in hand but lost 14 points to Burnley and 8 to us.
1 Middlesbrough
P 24 GD +24 Points 52
2 Derby County
P 25 GD +20 Points 48
3 Hull City
P 25 GD +18 Points 47
4...
