I think we badly need another striker to have top 2 aspirations. But, given the choice IF it was either/or, I'd probably rather keep Stephens. We'll find a way to score goals but we've rarely looked anywhere near good enough for automatic promotion without Kayal and Stephens in the side...
That would be a huge fee for a player with 1 year of his contract left to run - but totally agree they're way off the mark with 5.5m. Hopefully he can be persuaded to stay and then be playing for us in the PL next season.
I believe Hughton when he says Stephens is not refusing to play. I suspect the club knows there is serious interest and, given his contract situation, is content to make sure he remains injury-free just in case Burnley or someone else in the PL comes back in with a big offer that's too good to...
