I think we need a POLL to determine the biggest PLUM called Jezza.
The contestants could be
Hunt
Corbyn
Clarkson
Kyle (who I saw on Thursday bumming a Marlboro Lite off a security guard).
Many of the placard holders on the picket line are the usual eejits from Socialist Worker and their cronies. To me they don't represent the views of the BMA rank and file membership.
The fact that more senior doctors and their professional bodies have sided with the JD's in relation to this...
I haven't seen a single doctor say they want to work a 9-5 though.
Currently they can work a 91 hour hour week under the existing rules as JD's, and they do it with pride and professionalism.
The vast majority of doctors are from middle class backgrounds, are not motivated by money...
He's measuring it using the Jeremy Hunt interpretation of statistics, such as Jezza used when over claiming £19,000 in expenses, and concluding that increased deaths at weekends were due to JDs.
That's fair enough. You shouldn't be judged by your relatives having a medical background.
If you want to take the side of the man who wrote a paper calling for the dismantlement of the NHS that's your prerogative.
Fair enough, do you think, overall, the banking sector has made a positive or negative contribution to the global economy over the last decade?
On a similar note, do you think doctors have made a positive or negative contribution to the global economy over the last decade?
As far as PFI is...
If you balance that against the mayhem and destruction they have caused in the last decade through mis-selling, interest rate rigging, derivative shorting, the jobs lost through the hair brained M&A deals they recomment, PFI adding to public debt and to top it all the 2008 global economic crisis...
That's an outrageous slur on the integrity of Jeremy Hunt. Just because he co-wrote a paper calling for the abolition of the NHS a few years ago it doesn't automatically mean that he is trying to engineer his beliefs through the back door.
I bet you were one of those sandal wearing tofu eaters...
Perhaps you are right, and the 98% of Junior Doctors who voted for the strike are a red menace who cannot be trusted. They are, in the words of the Iron Lady herself, "The Enemy Within".
Healthcare is 7 days a week for many areas already though. A&E is open 24/7, for example.
I went in for a colonoscopy a few months ago at the weekend. The staff were knowledgeable, caring, professional and supportive.
Jeremy Hunt's claim that there are 11,000 extra deaths a year at weekends...
£45k is the starting salary for a graduate working in Canary Wharf for an investment bank. By the time they are 27 they would add at least £100k to that, and they have contributed NOTHING to society, unlike medical professionals, who save lives.
Regardless of your political viewpoint it is crass and clueless behaviour by Jezza.
Alienating an intelligent, highly trained, educated and mobile workforce, who cannot be easily replaced, is a dumb thing to do, even if your dad is an admiral and you used to be head boy at Charterhouse.
