Indeed. Went down to the beach behind Hove Lagoon yesterday evening .... beautiful, calming place and for free ..... no need for stupid expensive erections.
And yet another default in payments ..... I'm sure TLO will be on soon to suggest we were all scaremongering at the incompetence of the councillors that voted for the loan.
You mean the original predictions of numbers were 'wrong' ? Who would have thought it ? I'm surprised nobody pointed it out at the time ...... oh
Correct. Taxpayer money is there to provide essential services - not to lend to private enterprise when private lenders refuse to lend.
Private backers weren't forthcoming which suggests the business plan is questionable. For starters the number of riders seems hugely over optimistic.
As...
Errr .... where do you think the government got that money ? From the magic money tree at the bottom of Downing Street ?
The loan is also guaranteed by the local taxpayer.
Interesting the council claim that the Regency Square car park is under used - there's always been queues for it when I've tried to use it.
AND the local taxpayer picks up the loan repayments.
I'm not against the i360 in principle - clever bit of engineering, but it should NEVER have been...
Oh come on HT, there was a private backer who then pulled out - who exactly was this 'independent' vetter - a public body I think you mean. When you say it was transparent what do you mean ? There were EXACTLY two votes required to pass it on top of the Greens support - Theobald delivered...
Ah, the good old financial blackmail argument. You're not Jason Kitcat or Geoffrey Theobald by chance ? So someone like me, and clearly The Rivet should pay to go on a white elephant because otherwise our council tax will go up ? The deal was corrupt, the Greens and Theobald did a deal. Millions...
'Progress' backed by taxpayers money NOT private money .... but of course it won't affect your council tax bill. I'm all for the tower itself but it should be backed by private money not mine.
Alternatively he can save his £20, go down the pub, have more fun and cross his fingers that i360 Ltd don't go bust thus costing him yet more money ..... of course he could also runaway to another country after constantly moaning about a happening.
Go and ask Tory councillors about the deal Theobald and Kitcat did - 90% of them are fuming about it. I'm sure the 50 employees of the wheel will be overjoyed to lose their jobs because the council are favouring a private business. Personally I'll be boycotting the sham and will encourage others...
The reason they have rejected an application to extend is to protect their own ( possibly taxpayers funded ) project. The council planning officers recommended allowing it - the councillors have used politics to come to the decision. A dirty state of affairs.
