That actually looks ok (ish) from the back of the stand. See my pic, taken from the side of the pitch, in post #37 for a better idea. Alternatively, watch the FL show to see a stark comparison between the lush smooth turf of all the other 35 FL games.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that the pitch was dangerous. They'll have been several hundred games of 3rd team rugby played on similar surfaces today without injuries caused by the pitch.
It takes the piss to not prepare a surface for this standard of football when you're charging fans £24...
