Happy with that. As a temporary measure (and it would be seen as temporary and not a challenge to a rested Cook) I'd even consider Prior in as captain and batsmen, and get Buttler in as keeper. If not, I'd ask Bell to lead the side, he deserves England captain on his CV.
I see Moores is considering resting Broad and Anderson. He should consider resting Cook too.
Go into the India series with nothing to lose, picking a young inexperienced side who won't be chastined by defeat because the team is so fresh, but have everything to gain by showing what they can do...
It's basically every other test nation apart from Australia we have to fight to get test matches. None of them want them, they all one ODI's and T20's. Even South Africa play considerably less test matches than we do.
Brilliant by Ali!
Funny how it's not the new guys that are struggling.
The brave move would be to say to Cook, stand down for the India series, go back to Essex and spend a good couple of months out of the spotlight, perhaps to come back as captain still.
I'd perhaps say the same for...
We've learned nothing from Australia. The wrong people were scapegoated, the same mistakes are being made that have been made for the last 18months. We're going through openers like Katie Price goes through husbands, our bowlers lack direction at times with a captain unable to deviate from...
Alistair Cook
Average over his last 20 innings - 25.9
25 innings since his last 100 (130 vs NZ, Headingley May 2013).
He took 10 months to get 6 centuries between Autumn 2010 to Summer 2011.
He has made 6 centuries since Autumn 2011 to present.
Can we have our opening bat back please?
