Safe Standing at the AMEX: Yes or No?

    Why not?

Safe Standing at the AMEX: Yes or No?

Rather than such glib statements, I wish those who don't think it's a good idea would actually share their reasons with us. Football has not "moved on". There are still a huge number who wish to stand up when they watch football. As others have said, I'm willing to listen to reasoned...

Safe Standing at the AMEX: Yes or No?

As this has now turned into the same debate on the sticky thread with similar responses from those not understanding the concept of safe standing (i.e. responses that assume that we are talking about a return to open terraces), surely it is time to close the thread and leave all discussion on...

Safe Standing at the AMEX: Yes or No?

My group can't be the only ones who already do this. 7 of us at the Bristol City game and not one seat was occupied by the person named on the ticket!

Safe Standing at the AMEX: Yes or No?

I'd say that is most definitely the only option left to us at the moment and the sensible way forward. In the meantime, Germany will continue to see more visits from me for football matches!

Safe Standing at the AMEX: Yes or No?

It does suggest somewhat that they are no longer prepared to take on board the wishes of the supporters, though. I think it is in this sense that the statement "lost our club" was made, though it is a bit of an overreaction, I'd agree.

Safe Standing at the AMEX: Yes or No?

As some folk can't work out the apalling bit of the response, I've chopped it out for you: Backward step? Backward thinking, more like!

Try reading their statement before putting people down. The tone of the response on ATC is apalling.

Safe Standing at the AMEX: Yes or No?

That is a very disappointing response from the club. It basically says "we don't care what you want, we'll decide what you get". It basically means that we need to write to the board en masse, as well as to our MPs. What a sorry state of affairs that our "inclusive" "community" club refuses...

Safe Standing at the AMEX: Yes or No?

I'm well aware of that! This thread is about whether safe standing areas would have a positive effect, though. As I pointed out, your arguments prove that this would be the case. Back on your sub-conversation, I took my kids to plenty of away games when they were very young. Generally, if...

Safe Standing at the AMEX: Yes or No?

You're actually putting forward a very good argument as to why some areas should be for standing. You'd be able to sit in your chosen seat, then, as there would be a compelling argument that nobody should be standing in front of you.

Nobody. If its set up for standing, the seats are locked up - for safety reasons.

I realise that, but I just worry that when they get it, they might decide it's not for them and go back to seated areas. I can't believe how used I've got to sitting down at the football. I would never have considered it until it became the only option.

Safe Standing at the AMEX: Yes or No?

Whilst I'd agree, I think it would make sense to do one area first and see what the demand is before rushing into changing several areas. A lot of us still hanker after the old days when we were allowed to stand and move around during the game. A generation of football fans who haven't had that...

Safe Standing at the AMEX: Yes or No?

Note the step under the seat. Technically, it could be 1 seat = 2 standing, but it says on the safe standing website that this wouldn't comply with British laws (not sure why), so a ratio of 1.8 is all that would be allowed.
