As has been the case now for several days, it'll come down to nowcasting (although this mornings runs seem to firm up that no snow will be falling on this side of the Channel) however there is always a small chance that those on or very near to the coast could see some snow flurries.

Exactly (which is what the GFS is showing) and the signal is for westerlies (as in unsettled weather from the Atlantic) to take control once this cold spell breaks down (a fired up jet due to the pending extreme cold in the States doesn't help). It's after that (with the near Strat reversal lag)...

Had a couple of decent snow flurries (and graupel) but now very light.

Anyone see any snow/sleet on the south coast Worthing/Brighton at the moment? Something is coming ashore, but what?

This has been a little bonus cold snap, as generally with an El Nino winter, the colder weather is normally more common towards the end of Winter. The extremely cold weather in central/northern Europe has been historic (Munich getting 40cm of snow in 12 hours for e.g.) and it looks to stay put...

It's going to feel bitter up to Mon/Tues next week with a small chance of snow at this stage. There is a LP in the Atlantic that is causing the models problems as they don't know how to handle the battleground, as in how far up over the Country it will go, if at all. Take this mornings runs for...

All we can say with some degree of confidence, is that it'll turn drier over the coming days and turn colder as winds switch to an easterly direction. Anything from weekend onwards is still to be firmed up. However, it's nice to be viewing colder charts during a winter month instead of a Spring...

Some light snow here in Crawley at the moment.

Such a shame we've got a strong la Nina, I know it's only one signal but if this winter follows Climatology when there is a strong La Nina then Mid to late winter will wet and windy. Best chance of snow will still be early winter.

I can't see in the articles I've read what the actual science is from the University? At least it's not from Nathan Rao or James Madden! However even though there are some signals which could point to a greater chance of colder weather over Winter, there is nothing set in stone or even worth...

Probably best free one on netweather, apparently it's snowing in the south West which should bode well for us. Keep an eye on the developing circulation at the back of the front, this could pep up the snow however it might mean Devon/Hants only gets the benefit of this. Think that's why they've...

What's amazing is that it's still not confirmed how much snow will fall later this evening and overnight! I can't recall such divergence at this short range before. It really will come down to nowcasting for Sussex as some forecasts have us getting up to 5cm whilst others very little, barely a...

There might be a slushy mess but to be honest, Thursdays snow risk has more chance of seeing lying snow before it turns to rain. Tonights risk has dwindled over the last few days.

Game up? With Feb and first two weeks of March still to come? Yeah ok! The downwelling has been very slow but is still forecast to actually hit the Trop during the first week of Feb, who knows what will happen, we might get lucky with Blocking in the right place. There is a VERY small chance...

Seems a bit cold zonality at this stage, anyway it will be nice to see more falling snow (even if it doesn't actually stay for very long!) As we look across with jealousy at what the US Midwest has in store for next week, although maybe it's a bit too cold to experience! Don't really fancy...

There is a chance for us down here to see some snow later this pm/evening. Any slushy deposits will probably be up on the downs (if it does snow), it's an organized band of Showers which is due to come across but with showers, some will miss out completely. Next wintriness won't be until end of...
