I think its identical. He meant the very same thing, and I don't understand why anyone pretends otherwise, except perhaps out of loyalty to Harty.
If that's the case they'd be much better taking the 'he did wrong, he is sorry, lets move on' line, than trying to brush it off, pretending he meant...
You're missing the point entirely. Those people who felt aggrieved / precious [depending on your p.o.v] are challenging his use of the term 'licking windows'. Who he was referring to is entirely irrelevent.
I didn't realise he was employed by the BBC, 'the employer' that was referred to.
IF Harty loses his part time job, and I for one hope he doesn't, then it will be nothing whatsoever to do with what anybody has written on here. If the station have suspended him and launched an investigation, then it will be in response to complaints made TO THEM.
I'm ready to stand corrected...
Harty knows full well that the Alan Ball thing was someones weak joke. They named themselves after Adrie for god's sake. Trying to make out its any more than that is fairly feeble tbh.
If anyone ever took '1067Gull' as anything other than a parody of 1066Gull, and his posts as anything other than a joke, then they are frankly a bit SIMPLE.

Gull's Eye fulfilled that function. More than that actually -...
Harty shouldn't have said it. He's said sorry. As I voted for Dean Wilkins in that thread, I've a right to feel offended as anyone, but frankly its no big deal [to me].
If his bosses see it differently, then that's his issue to deal with, but I don't think there's any need for a witch-hunt...
