We went for an Otty Hybrid Mattress a few years ago, along with a couple of their pillows. Very comfortable and happy with it. Has a temperature regulating layer so haven't found it being too hot.

It seems for various reasons the train situation is not one that is likely to improve – I assume these issues are on weekdays when rolling stock is utilised with commuters at rush hour and this is less of a problem at weekends?
