I remember being on one of the old slam door trains in the 90s that didn’t stop so they arranged to stop at Wivelsfield, which it wasnt going to do, and get the next train down to stop and pick us up. Happy days !!
Trains have been stopping ok there for years albeit only one an hour despite there actually being two an hour, the other goes straight through which is ridiculous.

We use them as places to stop when driving to a holiday over here too. Membership is great value for money, especially if you are retired.
Sheffield Park, Nymans, Standen, Scotney Castle, Sissinghurst, Chartwell, Batemans are all decent places for a wander round and all have coffee shops / restaurant.
