Is this lack of goals a record

Thanks Perseus, I'd forgotten that miserable run. It was pretty bleak as we were conceding lots of goals as well as scoring very few. Wasn't the infamous cup match v Chelsea in the middle of that run where they ended up with 2 players sent off, and innumerable skirmishes both on and off the pitch ?

Is this lack of goals a record

Wallowing in my despair at the lack of entertainment at The Amex, I was wondering if this goal less run of our sets a new record. By my reckoning we have played 9 matches, that is 13 hours 30 minutes and only scored 1 goal, Dale Stephens v Wigan. I know we won at Blackburn, but that was an own...

Do you know someone named like a footballer?

When I lived in Chelsea I knew a Tom Jerry, but had always thought he was named after the cartoon as opposed to the Chelsea captain.

    Seaford Town - almost there!

Wasn't Burke giving them a hand at recruiting new players ??? Wishing them the best of luck for the future though as they have been a long established team at County League level for some time and deserve better.

    Loanee rumours...

I too would welcome Craig Noone back. I thought he was available as he was rumoured to be going on loan to Norwich. I loved him here at The Amex and I am sure the like of Best & O'Grady would welcome a genuine wide man feeding them crosses.

[TV] BBC 4 - French Cop series

It's probably the best drama on TV. I got hooked on series 3 and am so into it now, I record MOTD on Saturday to watch it.

How good or poor are English players really ?

In England it is always expected that the national team will fly the flag at all these big global competitions and every year we are left annoyed and upset at our pitiful performance. We argue that England has the best football league in the world, therefore we are the best. But is this true ...

    Kemy Agustein

If anyone can get him to knuckle down, then it will be Sami. They both had spells at Willem II in Holland, so have some shared history. Kemy does have ability, but he also has a record of ill-discipline when it comes to personal fitness and application. He's a bit too keen on his burgers I'm...

Will / should Hodgson resign if we go out in the Group phase?

I hope Hodgson stays. I think he is a good manager and coach. The fact is there are hardly any English world class players. Our premier league has too many overseas players and there are not enough opportunities for home grown English talent to break through. It was a good squad, but it was not...

    [Football] No complaints

In my eyes it was promising. We didn't do enough to win but possibly did not deserve to lose either. I'm happy with Hodgson's approach and welcome the inclusion of Sterling, Sturridge, Barkley etc. It would have been nice to see Lallana get more time and possibly see Lambert up alongside...

    Is Rooney ....

Rooney was poor last night and should have been subbed. He may look good against the likes of Newcastle & Cardiff etc, but that does not make him world class. World class players perform outstandingly against world class opposition. Wayne doesn't !! The inventiveness last night was provided by...

    Best last minute moments

For me it has to be Michael Thomas scoring in injury time at Anfield to win Arsenal the league championship in 1989. I was his PE Teacher for 6 years and I spent much time together with him during his school days and after he signed for Arsenal. He was a full back then and I was a centre forward...

Joe Cole coming to Brighton in the summer?

I rather hope not. He was a class act but has been far below that level for a few seasons now. I'm not sure we need him. I'd rather develop the youngsters or sign someone young and hungry than sign someone whose best days have long been gone.

The all new Ashley Barnes thread

We dont miss him one bit. He isn't Championship class, just a workhorse. Same with AEA. his limitations were exposed even more than Barnes which is why it was good business to get a fee for them both. Neither had a future here. They are both steady lower league players.

Sean Dyche Interview - Did we PARK THE BUS?

"Burnley boss Sean Dyche claimed the away side’s negative tactical structure from the start was a huge compliment". We are a negative team with a negative set up and I think we all have to accept that. We have a good defence, but we concede so few because we create so little going forward. We...

Views from a Birmingham supporter re Saturdays game.

Be careful what you say here. We are the home team and we only play with one up. We do exactly the same away too, so there's not that much difference between the two teams approaches. If you can accept that of us, then you must accept and expect it from other teams

Views from a Birmingham supporter re Saturdays game.

What an excellent summary of the game. Great to see and hear that true football supporters give credit where it's due. I could not agree more with his observation that we sat back after taking the lead and so nearly gave it away. Indeed why do teams, once they have taken the ascendency, let...

    Lewis Grabban £1million

I thought he looked pretty sharp. Can see him knocking in a few chances. I'd be happy with him.

    Barnes

No pace, no strength, always falling over under a challenge, no height, poor ball control and a total lack of instinct in front of goal. He's a journeyman pro who will do okay at a level below The Championship. He is one of the least talented centre forwards I can remember. In fact I'd say he...
