This petty, spiteful behaviour by the club stems from sheer greed, nothing else. Considering the multi millions in tv revenue the Albion now receive it is shameful, especially as many of the flaskies have stuck with the club through some very dark days. Despicable really, and inexcusable.
14,000 attemdance shows once and for all that it doesn't compare to most derbys in this country. Would Southampton v Portsmouth ever draw such a poor crowd? Good to win though, I still enjoy the F A Cup, shame it's lost its status over the years.
This seems the most plausible explanation to me. No surprise that even to this day nobody has come clean about it. Though why should the poor taxpayer be informed, they only bloody paid for it.
I've just come back for a visit to good old Sussex after quite a while away, and I see the regular tunnel night closures still seem to be in operation. No other tunnel - Dartford, Blackwall, Mersey, Hatfield, Tyne etc - seem to have anything like such frequent inconvenient closures. Does anyone...
Hopefully not Fulham for me. A joke club with their clackers, and thousands of "fans" who only crawled out of the woodwork when Fayed came in with his millions. Average gates of barely 4,000 for most of the 80's and 90's.
So the declared attendance was nearly 50% bigger than the actual attendance, which must be similar to some Albion home games. As previous posters have said, it makes announcing the figures pretty pointless.
Shame, cos a lot of fans, anoraks or not, have always been interested in comparing both...
Norwich - now there's a set of loyal fans. Don't know why they don't expand Carrow Road, they usually seem to sell out, and when they announce a full house it actually DOES look full on the box, unlike the Amex.
