[Travel] First Time in Japan. Tips?

We were In Japan for 3 weeks in November. For Tokyo, visit at least two of the city parks, book a trip up Tokyo Skytree, visit Team Lab art exhibition and eat sushi at one of the small restaurants at the old fish market. A hop-on hop-off bus is also worthwhile. You can also organize a day trip...

    [Albion] Anyone booked through Booking.com?

100% sure. I called them when i received the message since I was a bit paranoid from my previous experience. They confirmed it was legitimate and I then paid it. I stayed at the apartment and there were no problems. The only difference in the text between this message and the scam one was that...

    [Albion] Anyone booked through Booking.com?

Here's a snippet from a genuine booking.com message I received relating to a recent trip I took. They also included a link for payment and a cancellation warning.

[Albion] The “can we share a ride” Roma travel thread

Went to Rome a few weeks ago for the 6 nations. Taxis from the airport to the centre charge a fixed rate of EUR 50. Downloaded and used a taxi app called Freenow while we were there. Taxis all arrive within 5 mins of ordering them. Only issue is after the match. We ended up walking back.

    [Albion] Anyone booked through Booking.com?

Had a similar experience in October last year. Really convincing and paid out EUR 1’000. The e-mail even showed up on the booking.com platform itself so it looked legitimate. Smelt something wasn’t right and called my bank before the credit card payment had been cleared. I saw from my bank...

[Other Sport] Sky Sports - Fight Night.

I went to a couple of Eubank fights there back in the day - against an Argentinian nobody and then against Kid Milo from Birmingham. An up and coming Herbie Hide was on the undercard who brought plenty of support from Norwich. This was around the time Eubank linked up with Barry Hearn. One or...

    [Brighton] Seagulls abroad in Europe

Tallinn’s a great place to live. Really enjoyed my 8 years there. Local supporters are also friendly and had no bother watching England play there a couple of times.

    [Brighton] Seagulls abroad in Europe

Despite the name, I left Tallinn in 2012 and have been living in Riga since then. One of the two Riga teams will probably end up in the Europa League although it’s doubtful they will qualify for the group stages. Riga FS ended up in the Conference league group stages this season - friendly...

[Travel] First time trip to Thailand - Advice please

As you are heading to Chiang Mai, an overnight stay at Elephant Nature Park is well worth it. It's an ethical place where elephants have been rescued from logging, elephant trekking companies etc. It is forbidden to ride elephants (even for mahouts) and they don't do tricks etc. They organize...

    Riga - NSC Recommendations?

You're welcome and really glad you both enjoyed it. The opera house is pretty good for price-value and there's no shame in taking the canal tour - I think the bit around the park is the best part of it.

    Riga - NSC Recommendations?

Bit of a long story. I'm working for an international company and got the opportunity to transfer to Tallinn from Budapest back in 2004. I met my and then later married my Latvian wife in 2008 and moved onto Riga keeping the same job as it covers all 3 Baltic countries. Depending on when you are...

    Riga - NSC Recommendations?

I've been living in Riga for nearly 5 years now. Hopefully, some of these tips may be useful. Hotels-Radisson Elizabetes (good spot, reasonable price, best quality Radisson in town); Alberts hotel is an alternative. Restaurants-high-end has to be Vincents (Michelin class, famous owner who works...

    [Travel] Sri Lanka

Went there a couple of years ago at the same time of year. It's an amazing place. I would recommend the train journey from Kandy to Ella - it's very slow but the scenery is beautiful. Ella itself is a small village bang in the middle of tea country and worthwhile spending a couple on nights. If...

    Tallinn beer and food?

For beers, you've got Pudel bar for the hipsters (craft beer place not too far from old town run by James who's a Bradford fan), Dubliner (typical Irish bar with reasonable pub food), Must Pudel (a local bar on a small side street), Hell Hunt or Nimeta (sports bar but a bit sleazy). For more...

    Thailand Advice Request

Went a couple of years back. Head north to Chang Mai which is definitely worth a visit. Visit Elephant Nature Park while you are there, staying overnight if possible. Phi Phi island in the south is great for chilling out. Air Asia do cheap internal flights which makes it easier to travel around.

    Lithuania

I would suggest staying at the Novotel. You can get a double room there for around EUR 80 per night and it is in a great central location. I always stay there when in Vilnius on business. As for things to do, the weather could still be a bit cold at that time, but the In Your Pocket guides are...

Chelsea young star defender out on loan could this be us?

I saw him play against both Serbia and France in the tournament. Along with Liverpool's Jack Robinson, he looks the pick of the bunch. Definitely better than Elphick and perhaps Dunk. He just needs to beef up a bit, but definitely worth trying to get hold of on a season-long loan.
