I love the Beacon, but yes, it gets a bit congested over the weekend. However, I wouldn't be daft enough to drive up it on a Saturday afternoon. Surely there are better road options if you're in a hurry? Segregated cycle lanes would be great, but there is a depressing amount of money being spent...

Gold Investment - Yay or Nay

If you want some gold exposure perhaps avoid physical gold and the associated costs. A gold ETF tracks the price and trades daily like a share, so much more liquid. You can get out when you want. That said, on a standalone basis why would you want to buy gold? You may as well head down the...

    Le Mans - 2017

We tend to visit the grandstands during practice and qualifying as you don't need a ticket for those sessions. Get yourself down to Arnage, it's fantastic. Probably our favourite viewing spot! You are nice and close to the fence and last year they expanded the viewing bank so you can now see...

    Le Mans - 2017

We stay in Mulsanne, away from the madness of the sites nearer the circuit. It's a little out the way but we take bikes so Arnage and Porsche curves are only a short cycle away. Hot showers, well maintained toilets, decent security, a big screen, Carrefour and a decent little bakery are a 5 min...

    Le Mans - 2017

Just departing Cherbourg ferry terminal, our seventh or eighth trip on the trot. Will take a week to recover but thoroughly worth it, another superb end to the race! The weather we had definitely improves the camping experience!

No worries mate, good to see you! Weather forecast looking good for the week so hopefully we'll all be clocking up some miles....

Be interesting to see whether a dangerous driving charge materialises? I hear you Bold. I had two shouts of 'get on the cycle lane' this weekend - one by Hollingbury golf club where the 'cycle lane' is gravel, and the other on the way into Newhaven, which is broken up by numerous junctions and...

What about something without cobbles?! I'm going to Flanders next year but with a beer in hand on the side of the road

Think they are pretty strict. 24,000 people starting when they wanted would be a logistical nightmare. We have 5 riders in our group with start times between 6.30 and 7. We're going to meet a few hundred yards after the start line.

Indeed, certainly an improvement on last year. It's a cracking event and very well organised so enjoy!

Pogue Mahone What's your start time on Sunday? I've been allocated pink zone with a 7.09am start.

What a stage! Even Sky had a couple of riders in the break, crazy scenes. Anyhow, I saw this earlier and remembered how many fans Phil has here. This is your chance to tell him what you think of his commentary skills and chat about rhinos. http://www.srs-events.cc/event5/event-details.htm

I'm enjoying this, he's a likeable chap. Forgot how close he was in the Vuelta.

Wowzers, still a very impressive list of climbs. What was the toughest of all of those? Does the altitude make a big difference? I'll probably hire a bike to avoid the faff of buying a bike box and lugging mine over. I'm considering end of Aug/Sep as it'll hopefully be a bit cooler. I've...

Went skiing in Alpe d'Huez recently so like the idea of heading back and taking on the 21 bends. Something like this: http://www.cyclinginthealps.co.uk/marmotte-tour-7-nights.html Have you conquered many of these?

Think I'm gonna give this a bash in preparation for some Alps action at the end of summer. http://www.evanscycles.com/pages/rideit-king-of-the-downs-sportive-ride-31st-may-2015 Paris-Roubaix was bloody epic, it was such an easy drive there and back, although an early start (7.30am crossing)...
