Empty seats is great for no queues for trains, food and toilets. Whats not to like.

Surely you should be hoping even more then that the convention of concessions for pensioners continues long into the future. We all get old one day.
I am old . . . Ish . . . .I ge tthe idea and it was good, but it's outdated. . . .once the boomers have passed, the governments have regained the capital and us plebs are exactly where they want us, it'll reset and seem like a generous rest
Is this true?
Of course not, but final salary pension schemes are history and the bomers are by far the wealthiest and most numerous of pensioners . . . Everything now suggests a declining wealth and life span for the majority of working people. Football used to be the sport of the working classes.

A fair few missed the action though!
Not me - but that's one of the huge advantages of going to games with Seagull Travel.

If memory serves me right, people became aware of an incident on the trains towards Worthing in the second half (my son works for B&H Buses and received an alert during the game that they were being called in to help) and I think more would have left than normal as a result.

I feel for those that missed Mac Allister's pen (honest ;)) ... and revenge for the pen United had after the final whistle had been blown in previous game.

We left early last year and missed the pen, son had school - will be staying till the end this year to cheer the players lap of honour.

Can't believe there's going to be so many empty seats for this one - I've heard many fans say they hate Chelsea almost as much as Palace these days and we are currently in good form & still with a chance of top 8.
That Chelsea plastic rivalry is embarrassing, all they have done is pay over the top for three players and a manager.
Chelsea fans don’t give us a second thought and the the majority of the ones I’ve met are sick of their owners buying players from Brighton.

Absolutely gutted! I can't go to this game, It was the one after the Palace game I looking forward the most and a chance to boo the snakes. My husband bought me a ticket to see Kacey Musgraves and the Round House in London for my Birthday. He bought the ticket for the Wednesday night as he thought there would not be any games played then, but they moved the game. It's the first game I missed all season.

How does one person talk out of their arse so dependably? The Chelsea-Albion thing is not a 'rivalry" in the usual way. If you ever listen to Chelsea podcasts, and I do if we’re due to play them, or have just played them, you’ll know the abuse we get. They absolutely despise Brighton for being a 'nothing, tinpot club'. They hate us for humiliating them over Caicedo, and for constantly taking the piss out of them with overpriced transfers and a coach and entire backroom team that they’ve had to get rid of and pay off — apart from Winstanley who’s the one they dislike the most. As for us, everyone should despise and disparage a club that’s almost single-handedly capsized the modern game with its profligacy and arrogance.

Of course people will have genuine reasons to miss this one, as is the case with every single game.

The crux of the point is the reason there'll probably around 3k empty seats (even factoring in Chelsea in the home end) is because a significant proportion of our fan base can't be arsed.

We've been spoiled for a couple of seasons, so now there aren't any 'big targets' to aim for and the fact it's an 'inconvenient' Wednesday means thousands would rather stay at home. It's not even on TV.

I put my Chelsea and United tickets on the exchange at the same time yesterday. My United one sold almost immediately. It must be the midweek impact for Chelsea.

This fanbase always makes up 101 excuses as to why they won't turn up / leave early. Don't get the mental gymnastics of it all, we've nothing to play for, if you can't be arsed just say you can't be arsed. Ultimately we have probably 15-20k who will turn up whatever, the rest are not into it as much as the other. That's what happens when you build a fanbase up from low levels of the 2000s. In the years to come this will change, but the amount who just have a season ticket because they can will never bother will this kind of game.

So in a long winded drawn out post you have come to the same conclusion Chelsea fans are sick of their owners paying over the odds for Brighton players & staff
