Managed my first 10k this morning, up to the YHA on the SDW and back. Was a bit of an effort, but pleasing that I didn't have to stop and walk for any of it. Two weeks in Mexico from Friday won't do anything to get the distances back up, though. Looks like I might have to brave the dreadmill for a few runs.
I’ve been running 5k’s on the treadmill at the gym 3 or 4 times a week recently to break up the monotony of the rower.
A few weeks ago a small group who do a 6am 5km on the road a couple of times a week convinced me to join them.
Overtime, 5km gradually became 7km (they don’t tell me this before we set off…) and then this morning I’ve got back from my first 10km. I’m beyond chuffed, but the ridiculous thing is that the rest of our small running group are even more pleased for me than I am for myself.

Well done @Bry Nylon you should let yourself known to the NSC Hove Park Parkrunners, if you're ever there. We'll give you loads of support. Until we get to know you better of course.
Like you my mojo is flying and I managed a club 1500m on Monday at Withdean for the first time in 22 months. It was enough to make me happy for the whole of my 2024 running. I can retire.
I was in the slow heat and was shocked when this bloke shot off at the start and left us for dead. I stuck to my planned pace but kept trying to catch him as he maintained a 50m lead. On the last lap I worked hard but he did enough. You have to respect a frontrunner. It takes bigga balls. He got home 4 seconds ahead. My time was enough to beat John Orden's time in the medium heat by 2 seconds, which is only of interest to @GNT if he's reading.
I loved the adrenaline, the fear of blowing up half way and ending up close to 2022's time. Now to plod about readying for 800m and 3000m at Lewes track Monday night.

I'm not sure I've shared that I got a green light from the cardiologist, to return tentatively to running.

I've been building gradually with just short runs. I've not run further than about 8 miles yet. Just love being back at it again.

Sad day for Brighton today with a great man deciding to leave tomorrow afternoon.

It is time for me to end my time as Brighton NSC Weakest Link Relay Gopher (I knew it was never Gaffer) so that the runners and I can continue to work in the way that suits each of us best, following our own ideas and visions, as well as our work and human values, leaving now provides me with time to take a break before deciding on my future plans. This is likely to be joining the mixed Weakest Link Relay teams of my socially regenerated running club.

I thank you all for some loyalty and commitment over the years. Apologies to @Butch Willykins and the everpresent @Greg Bobkin who put themselves forward for this year but I have failed to get a team.

The huge Brighton turnout on Hove Prom Parkrun today shows there is a future, alas not with me.

I'd like to place on record my sincere thanks for the many years of service put in by @knocky1 - together we have achieved some fantastic results and he has left us in a better place than when we started. We wish him all the best for his further endeavours in the sport

Sad day - I hope you aren’t sulking because you missed getting in the photo this morning!
Thank you for your sterling service over the years - we move on.🤪View attachment 182544
Must say it was a good turn out. Great to run by marshal's shouting "Up the Albion" and one even playing GOSBT on speaker.
I ran through the paces with heavy legs in a slow 26" and got up to speed in the last half mile.
Feeling injury free and will risk 800m in spikes at Lewes track Monday but will revert to the support of spongy Vaporfly for the 3000m. 🤞

I have miraculously managed to edit the table when it came to jumping above @Curious Orange . Any advice on how to move a column and I'll do it more often. At the moment I insert a new column in runners new position, fill in all the rows along and the delete the original column. There must be a quicker way.
Edit I also can't remove the quote bits so it doesn't become a new table.

There are two edit modes, the standard one shows the table and I use that for updating numbers.

If I want to fiddle with the rows I use the BB Code toggle top right of the editor then I can highlight and cut/copy stuff from my target row which is stuff between (and including) TR brackets.

(I'm at the match, I don't like the fanzine music)

Took on Bristol Half yesterday. Absolutely glorious weather for the spectators with clear skies and 22 degrees - was a hard slog for the runners, constantly trying to find shade wherever possible on course! Only 3 water stations too which was never going to be enough!

Decent course, the long out and back up the Portway is a little boring but the crowds in the city centre make up for that later in the race. A few inclines thrown in the last couple of miles tested the resolve!

I backed off a little due to the heat and came home in a very sweaty 1.37 plus change. Good day out, great city - recommended!!
