The OP is just quoting MOTD.

And I agree, the diving through the league is shameful.
I’m pleased MOTD called it out, albeit jokingly, and showed both Paragyuans diving. It might be something they encourage in their national youth teams.

And presumably turned a blind eye to by our myriad senior players. Y'know the ones who are supposed to be mentoring these kids ???

The comment was not to do with our team but both players being Paragyuan, Almiron and Enciso. It was also said as a joke.

Both of them could learn a lot form that Burnley player against Spurs yesterday. That was embarrassing and it was good to see one of his own team mates basically telling to get up and stop acting like a ****.

'We' - it's only a few of our players to be honest, and Buanonotte seems to have cut down on it considerably. Mitoma did it a bit too often in his first season, but not later.

Veltman is the best at 'buying' fouls - but at least they do end up as sort of fouls rather than a direct dive.
Veltman is nearly as good as Murray, no one complained about him doing it

Personally I hate it, it's all cheating, as is the pushing, shoving, bear hugs and corners and shirt pulling

Why can't they? If they can hand out a retrospective ban to Tomer Hemed for failing to overcome the force of gravity, surely they could hand out retrosoective bans for cheating.

The question is really a case of, 'Why won't they?'
I thought they did, to a single player who happened to play for Everton.

There have been plenty of other examples but nothing is ever done especially since VAR appeared as i guess the really game changing decisions that turned out to dives would have been picked up and overturned (penalty reviews, red card reviews, etc) so retrospective punishment is less likely to be needed.
