The Tories no longer control any Borough or District Council anywhere in Sussex. That is a massive shift in political choice across the County.

He can't ignore me.You've gone and done it now, I only hope @Harry Wilson's tackle has you on ignore
I understand the logic of why they aren't.One interesting aspect of these results is how well other parties and independents have done. Disastrous for the Tories but a warning for Labour. This doesn’t feel like the run up to Blair’s first GE win when there was a national excitement about Labour. As many have alluded to on here, I can’t help but feel KS needs to start talking more about policy and ideas rather than continue to be simply the ‘we are not the tories’ party.
Wouldn't say it was small. 10% up,Looks like my fears about the low turnout were unfounded (so far)
Small, but increase in vote to Labour in Wandsworth. Blimey. I'd to say that wipes the smile of the face of the local Tory councillors, but to be fair they haven't looked very happy for years.
As good a place as any to mention that in all my years, I have never voted for the winning candidate. My referenda success rate is 50% so I'm not a complete voter failure.
It makes me wonder why I bother.
Merton and Wandsworth was 5.1% swing I read. It's effectively a Labour area now after years of Conservative rule.

So many residents must have voted Labour in General Elections but Conservative locally for years. Since Labour have been in a for a while I suspect fears of losing their low council tax have drifted away.
I think the electoral commission might having a word over some of her campaigning tactics. She has sailed very close to the wind and may well come a cropper.Still some votes to count but Khan is surely safe. What I find mind blowing is that almost 400k have voted for Hall. She is a disgrace. She even pretended to get pick pocketed on the tube when she lost her purse for cheap political point scoring. When it was returned to her by a kind passenger, the nasty shit still claimed that she ‘may have been pick pocketed’ even though nothing was taken. That little episode sums her up. I suspect she’ll still get into the Lords in the Prime Miniature’s leaving honours though.

The utter oddness is that Khan is beatable. He's very average and not great at public speaking. He also has the tendency to come across at times a bit nasty.I think the electoral commission might having a word over some of her campaigning tactics. Because many in the party don’t see her that way. They think she has all the characteristics that they like in a person. The utter oddness is that Khan is beatable. He's very average and not great at public speaking. He also has the tendency to come across at times a bit nasty.
Why on earth did they pick such an awful candidate and run such a very narrow negative campaign ?
Good question. Perhaps none of the better potential candidates actually want the job, or maybe don't want to been seen as a losing candidate. I think Blair was being very clever in setting up these new posts as "mayor" of London, Manchester etc. He knew that big metropolitan areas tend to be labour dominated, so having a winner-takes-all mayor always has a very good chance of being labour. Only Johnson has beaten that so far in London. The utter oddness is that Khan is beatable. He's very average and not great at public speaking. Didn't they do the same thing in 2016 and spend most of the time going on about how he was going to come after your GOLD rather than actually presenting any sort of positive vision? The utter oddness is that Khan is beatable.
