So you wouldn't say that accusing Bozza of "weakness", of "starting an embarrassing number of threads", and of "allowing the site to be used as a left wing rag" as well as suggesting that the difference between active members and voters on this one thread could mean that NSC is "a forum with a very limited number of active members" is painting Bozza or NSC in a negative light? Got it.

As for the discourage function, the simple answer, which I know you won't like, is this: it's absolutely none of your business.

Can you clear this up for me as I am being a bit thick here and am no techie. Is there really some sort of software/programme that allows mods to make life difficult for targeted posters should they choose to?

I thought Mustafa was being paranoid in the OP.

I recently moved to the BC Interior. We have rattlesnakes and black widows creeping and crawling around like they own the place.

That’s not to mention the bears, wolves and mountain lions all laying in wait for me to leave the house every day. I’m thinking of getting bars fitted to my windows. Only half joking… 😅
I have family in Vernon (the ex wife, two step kids and their kids). Me and my son have from time to time had great holidays out there with them. Yes, bears walking past their homes by their lake.

I hope you're enjoying it

How odd. You are usually a very good judge of character as a Moderator even though I don't always agree with you.

I most certainly do not hold Bozza in a negative light , far from it. I do think his appointments are questionable, but it is his forum and I'm aware that with this forum having lurched seriously to the left, that many will disagree with me. On a purely personal note, I have seen that Bozza is and has been needing to spend considerable time with his mum. A very difficult time for him and I certainly don't intend targeting him. Not now, not ever.

The reason I would like to know why the discourage tag was used and by whom, as it seems very disproportionate and I think that in this case, the majority would agree that it is wrong. Why should all the moderators be tarred with the same brush...?
NSC is run by a moderating team and that’s all you need to know.

If you don’t like it I’d suggest you sit in the garden of your retirement home and yell at clouds instead.

Now I like most of what you say, but that is a poor choice. The winner will surely come from Man Utd, Villa or Chelsea. Although Arsenal also have a couple of candidates.
Yes, Foden is a good footballer and only a bit annoying.

ManUre, for example, is awash with absolute gold-plated wankpuffins, from cry-baby Fernandes, through Slabbers to McShite.

I just got a little sick in my mouth typing that :nono:

See Bozza's post at #11 of this thread. :)

So 79 people bothered to vote... and of them ~60% went for 'bin him off' and ~20% went for 'don't care'.

I think it's pretty clear, nobody really gives a toss.
Yet he got reinstated??

Now the MAN decides not to bother sticking by the result of a referendum!!

Bloody BoJo!!!

I have read your reply.

I have considered it, and it does have some merit. I felt they were valid criticisms , rather than targetting someone, but I see your point of view.

I thankyou for your time in replying.

Reading back this thread, I actually seem like one of the more normal ones. And that includes the mods.

Just to conclude my contributions to this thread, I would just like to offer my thoughts on the 'discouraged user' feature that was applied to me.

- It's possible that the mod that applied it didn't realise how severe it was. It makes the site (almost) unusable
- A page load takes 5-10 minutes, and often blanks out. There is no guarantee that you will make it to the page you want. To make a post it takes about 20 minutes, and even then, there's no guarantee it will be successful.
- Essentially all it is doing is discouraging the user from logging in. Logging out allows the user to browse the site normally. It's a ban in all but name, but it does allow the user to persevere with a post that he really wants to make, such as my opening post in this thread, should one be inclined to do so.
- I don't believe this is an effective tool, but it would have probably have been worth being transparent about using it from the get-go. No-nonsense banning is surely the way forward for problematic users.
