Did PBOBE mention that there is some exciting news with Nike going to be announced. Will this be a contract extension?
Club shop has just taken a shipment of 30,000 of this season's home kit, all in XXXXXL.

Yeah you're probably right. My first thought was they may have bumped us up to one of their 'Premium' clubs, meaning we would also get 'player spec' kits like Chelsea, Liverpool, Barca etc. Would likely mean they can finally sell the shirts directly, and they'll be going up in price again of course.

Pretty sure this image is dated, but you get the idea.

RDZ looked non committal to me, much like the team at the moment. Paul looked awkward when asked for commitments to spend Tony’s money. Why would and should the club change its very successful policy to meet the ambition of a transient manager and some fans. I’m proud of the way we do business. Success isn’t a constant upwards trajectory.

Yes, but surely we want to compete with the best?! We won’t win anything on our current structure. It’s incredibly efficient and works for us, but we really should invest in 2-3 PL ready players to get to the dizzy heights of winning a major honour. Surely you want that, no? I don’t want the club to go ‘we are just fine as we are’ it will become boring having been ‘nearly champions’ efc RDZ can see we have huge potential. I would be v disappointed if we weren’t wanting to match his ambition and more by backing him.

This was my interpretation, as Barber spoke of keeping away fans out and having security on hand in case any slipped in -- and thanked Albion fans for not being the sort to react "violently" to situations like that :lolol: But he also said home fans would be "prioritized" which is more equivocal.
One of my criticisms of Man City (after arriving 2.5 hours before kick off) was that they would not allow away fans into their fanszone and there was nowhere nearby to get an alcoholic drink. Most Brighton away fans don't cause trouble , especially in grounds where any issues is likely to loose your season ticket/myalbion membership.. Some of the best away days are when you get to the pubs near the ground and they allow mixed groups of fans.

No smoke without fire? Go onto t’internet and it’s a merry-go-round of who’s goes where and when. All of course provided by ‘reliable sauces’. In fact 99.9% is pure bollocks and hearsay. FFS even down here in Southampton it’s rumoured that Russell Martin will be the next Brighton coach. Who next, Sam Allardyce?
Indeed.

It needs to be universally acknowledged that the Internet is bursting with fireless smoke.

A zero stop 16 mile trip on a seagulls travel coach from Polegate to the Amex and back again is £22.35 per person, through in a few cup matches that's £500 a year.

I know a coach season ticket is probably a bit cheaper, but as you say that is one heck of an additional expense
I pay £16 for myself and £13 for my son form BH (as coach season ticket holders) essentially a third season ticket - which is why I feel strongly about the travel subsidy not being redirected to the clubs official transfer partner.

My youngest has just got an Albion ticket but I haven’t bought a third coach ticket as they won’t both go week on week - when they do I’ll look at parking as it’s cheaper

I may have misheard as I was cooking dinner at the time, but I'm not sure he actually answered the question correctly.

The fan asked if a 1901er can buy an away ticket and give it to someone else. They can.

PBOBE answered that 1901 fans collect loyalty points in the same way as everyone else (true), but if they can't attend an away game they have bought a ticket for then they speak to their 1901 host (or similar name).

The fan was correct - a 1901er, assuming they have sufficient loyalty points to buy a ticket, can give that ticket to anyone they like. They have to name the person who will be using the ticket at the point of purchase.

I'm not sure 1901ers have any special rights if they buy an away ticket and can't attend, which is the same as other fans. Which is a point of contention for many, including me - I've had Spurs and Bournemouth tickets this season that I could not use and just went to waste, as well as having friends who couldn't attend `Brentford - again the tickets were just wasted.
Last season the club said named away tickets for 1901 members wasn’t possible. But this year it is. Apparently last year’s changes weren’t rushed in!!!

The 1901 arrangement doesn’t reward loyalty to the supporter - the seat effectively accumulates points but it doesn’t matter who goes. If their ID is checked then it must match but it means the individual needs no previous purchase history.

That’s not rewarding loyalty, that’s rewarding money.

If I can’t go I don’t buy a ticket. But if I was 1901 I could offer it out, nominate someone and take the points.

However the club spin it it’s nonsensical and it’s not treating people equitably.

And it’s probably why the atmosphere at away games recently has been abysmal.

Mitoma for example. These days it’s a well known fact many younger fans follow players not teams. And heaven forbid when we eventually get relegated from the PL, there will be an exodus as many people only come for PL brand.
The same will apply to those who support us through the arrival of Enciso, Pervis, Buonnotte.... the SA fans of Tau and Jehanbaksh (?) also disappeared sharpish.... what will happen to Ronald?

Hold on. I've No idea but I realised i was standing next to him quueing up to buy a drink at the Vitality on Sunday afternoon. Thats an afternoon above and beyond the call of duty for any fan even one attracted at first by the likes of Moises, Pervis and Sarmiento. .

Obviously the reason we are going to Japan in the summer is to find a Japanese youth player so we don’t lose the Japanese fans when Mitoma inevitably moves on. 🙄

I do suspect, our international fans are not so much following the football player but their Country that they see represented in the English Premier League - as long as we have a national player they can support it probably doesn’t matter who he is..

I’m sorry but that is a load of utter bollocks. Blaming 1901ers for the lack of atmosphere at away games. I’d love to hear how many 1901ers buy tickets for silent friends for away games. I can’t imagine there are more than a handful at every game.

Why shouldn’t people who contribute more to the club financially get rewarded with more perks? They would in literally any other business. Why would they contribute more money to the club if they didn’t?

Your post just stinks of envy.

Nonsense.
I’m a 1901 member who goes home and away, and the members that I know go to most games as well. If you’re citing recent games, you’ll note they have reached general sale, read into that what you will.

Arguably, Bournemouth with 1500 of our fans were louder than the home end throughout, similarly Brentford.

I’m intrigued by FCK 1 badge/shirt - more like a naughty number plate. I’m assuming it’s Copenhagen?

Doubt that happens with more than a handful, and it’s a pretty minor benefit for someone paying something like double (?) for their season ticket.

They pay double for the lounge, match programme, posh bogs and decent parking. And being able to take guests / give tickets to people without the whole ticket transfer kerfuffle.

So, don’t see why they then get perks for away games which are naff all to do with your home status and are (supposedly) all about loyalty.

I can afford 1901 but I don’t see the point in it. So let’s throw the envy argument out the window.

Atmosphere. Fair enough, they’re undoubtedly not to blame for the lack of atmosphere but something is amiss. Maybe it’s the new tier structure - window 1 400+ points and window 2 250+ points.
Or maybe it’s our performances.

I’ve mentioned it elsewhere on here but 1901 buys you lounge access at home. It’s not an away package. Just because you pay more doesn’t make you more loyal or more entitled to away tickets - that goes completely against the club’s fairness argument.

So call it bollocks if you want but why should someone get a ticket to Arsenal away when they’ve not done Burnley, Sheffield United etc etc?

My points are related to the club approach or statements regarding loyalty and making sure fans with the points get them (not passing tickets on). Your home and away status, using your own ticket is no different to other STH.

eerrr it is a very good point. 1901 ticket holders most certainly would be our quieter supporters. It's pretty easy to understand why. It gets discussed on here time and time again. Barber just watering down our support to happy clappers, which they obviously want.

The club can define whatever they want as 1901 benefits

1901 ticket holders most certainly would be our quieter supporters.

Our group of supporters that get together for home and some away games sit in various different locations at the Amex, inc some on the 1901. The latter are all Goldstone ‘80s era north stand fans and with a few beers in them are far from quiet (‘loud but not lairy anymore’ was a quote a while ago!) - especially of course at away games like
most other fans regardless of where they sit.at the amex..
It’s not as if the north stand is perpetually raucous anyway and the ‘i’m a louder fan than thee’ part of this thread is just silly!
