[Travel] Who on earth closed the A27 v Man City

A27 west bound between Lewes & The Amex was closed before the end of the game. Whilst this didn't effect me, on the coach going eastbound there were many many more people than usual stood on the A27 bridge and the down slip to Lewes near the bus stop where they get picked up by car. These people obviously get collected by someone driving from the Lewes direction, looping over the bridge and return.
But when our coach went through Ashcombe roundabout, the point at which the road was closed, police must have been called as 30+ cars were parked up waiting for their kids who were stranded at the other end of the road. Chaos.

The amount of times since the Amex opened the A27 has been shut is madness. Last night was the biggest event not just in the south but the whole of the country and some thick planners shut the road outside the venue.

The definite match date was only confirmed a week ago, I do have some sympathy when the works were probably planned ages ago - but would it have hurt to delay the closure by an hour or so

To be fair we had to try absolutely everything to stop them scoring. I don't blame the club at all. Desperate times etc.

The A259 between Roedean and Ovingdean roundabout was closed both ways last night (overnight). Not that it affected me but closing the A259 and the A27 at the same time seems odd.

it would seem sensible. though with clousure window of about 8-10 hours usually, an hour might be difference whether the job can be done or not. postpone or have another closure to finish, doubles the cost.
