I've been to a Flamengo game at the Maracana , they lost 1-0 to Vasco de Gama in a Rio Derby.

Romario played in it, for Vasco I think, but he got subbed off after half an hour.

I'm just showing off, basically.
I read the other day Romario is coming out of retirement in his mid-50’s to play a game with his son. Not very interesting but there you go.

I’m envious (apart from the result) I adopted Flamengo as my team when I was travelling there - I once got off a boat in Ihla Grande wearing my Flamingo shirt to huge cheers from a bar full of locals.
i did go to the Maracana - fantastic experience- but never saw Flamengo there

Mostly see Flamengo and Palmeiras shirts with a sprinkling of Santos ones in the interior of Brazil.
I thought a couple of years back that Gabigol would have been a good buy for us but he seems to have stopped scoring so often.
Edit: Forgot that Sao Paulo and Corinthians are pretty popular too.

Zico might be my all time favourite player, so Flamengo became one of my favourite teams, almost by default.

One of the first games I remember watching (on the telly) was Flamengo destroying Liverpool 3-0 in the Intercontinental Cup.

I am trying to hatch a plan to go back to Brazil to watch more football

Any excuse for this amazing music…

My wife is a flamenco dancer having done it for the last 10 years and has many of these dances under her belt.

she has done a few shows and watching her group shows how incredible the art is. For those of you who have ever sung or dance, flamenco is practically unique in that the music is 12 to the bar, not necessarily starting on 1…could be 3, 8, etc

flamenco is a hybrid of the working man/ woman’s , Jewish, Arabic, African, gypsy culture and music and dance. Franco did his best to wipe it out, but it went underground literally, with a lot of clubs starting up based in caves.

by the way, found out at a show this weekend that Ole, is a hybrid version of Allah! And is a throwback to when what we now know as Spain, was ruled by Arabs .
