I re-watched another great Storyville documentary, Jonestown - Terror in the Jungle - I think its been around for a while now. Gripping and disturbing.
That was excellent. Not had a chance to watch this yet but seems similar and supposed to be very good

The BBC has announced it has acquired Romanian spy series Spy/Master.

Just finished Spy/Master. Loved the 70’s Cold War atmosphere, the complex storyline (competing Eastern Bloc security forces, waring as much as with other as The West), very tense.

Man on the Moon, superb film about the life of Andy Kaufman...

Jim Carrey WAY more of an actor than those rubber faced crappy films he's known for...

Brilliant performance and soundtrack by REM

Nine Bodies In A Mexican Morgue has a delicious concept and an incredible cast. So it’s great news that the BBC has acquired it for UK viewers.

In the six-part series, a plane carrying a small group of passengers, crew and pilot, crashes in the Mexican jungle. All the bodies are recovered and placed in a morgue… but it turns out that only one of them died in the crash. The other passengers were murdered afterwards, each one in a unique way. But by whom? And why? As the story unfolds in flashback, we meet the survivors as they fight against the heat, a shortage of supplies, the many dangers of the jungle…and each other. The setting becomes increasingly tense and claustrophobic as, one by one, they are dispatched with a series of shocks that bring us ever closer to the truth and – at the very end – a jaw-dropping reveal.

The ensemble cast includes Eric McCormack, David Ajala as Zack, Lydia Wilson as Sonja; Peter Gadiot as Carlos; Siobhán McSweeney as Lisa; Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Travis; Adam Long as Dan, and Jan Le as Amy.

Hopefully before the end of the year.

Jana – Marked for Life, meanwhile, is based on the bestselling novel by Emelie Schepp about a public prosecutor and former child soldier, and stars Madeleine Martin, Pernilla August, August Wittgenstein, Zlatko Buric, Thure Lindhardt, Sigrid Johnson, Johan Ulveson, Fredrik Hallgren and Moa Gammel.

During an investigation into the murder of a high-ranking official at the Swedish Migration Agency, the main suspect is also found dead, and Jana immediately recognises something on his scarred body. To understand her own traumatic past, Jana must reach the killer ahead of the police.
Six-parter on very soon

The BBC has announced a new, eight-part crime drama called This City is Ours, starring Sean Bean.

Bean will play gang leader Ronnie Phelan, with James Nelson-Joyce as Ronnie’s friend, Michael Kavanagh. Hannah Onslow will play Diana Williams, Michael’s partner, and Jack McMullen plays Ronnie’s son, Jamie Phelan. Julie Graham will play Elaine, head of the Phelan family alongside her husband Ronnie.

Set and filmed in Liverpool, This City is Ours is the story of Michael, a man who for all of his adult life has been involved in organised crime, working for his friend and the gang leader Ronnie. When Ronnie begins to hint at retirement, Michael too begins to imagine another life. Because, for the first time in his life, Michael is in love. For the first time in his life, he sees beyond the day-to-day, he sees a future: something to win and something to lose – Diana.

This City is Ours is the story of Michael and Diana’s love affair, set against the disintegration of Michael’s crime gang. For years, together with Ronnie, Michael has successfully been bringing cocaine into the City and beyond, directly from Columbia; but when a shipment goes missing, he knows their Kingdom is under attack.

The series explores what happens when Ronnie’s son Jamie decides he wants to inherit their kingdom and that there is no longer a place for Michael at the table. Both Michael and Jamie have bold ideas to modernise the gang and they will battle for control of it. But Michael’s biggest battle will be to save the woman he loves and the child he has always wanted.
